At practice is the defense only going up against the Leach's Air Raid offense or do they also see some more conventional offenses plays too or will they only see a non-Air Raid offense once they get to game prep for a particular team?

I'm bumping my post because I'm curious and I don't have a clue how college practices are run

Right now everybody will be learning how we play. Our defense and our offense.

A few practices before the first game the scout team will begin doing what LSU does on both sides of the ball. 1st vs 1st reps will always be us doing what we do.

If this defense is like Joe Lee's defense I don't know if it really matters.

I'm sure this will not happen but defending the air raid in practice everyday will we be able to stop the run?

I feel fairly certain our DC and our HC will have some plan to have us prepared to defend the running game. But if not maybe they read SPS and they will see this question and realize their folly and immediately decide to install some run defense

You say that but we did have a DC that forgot to teach the team how to stop the run,... actually the pass too. I’m pretty sure we didn’t even defend the QB kneel that year.

Can't remember during a non-game week but typically during game week towards the middle to the end of practice the entire defense will get looks from the scout team that represent what the opponent will be running. Usually this isn't your ordinary scout team though. The 3's and 4's that are trying to make a name for themselves on offense are running scout team. Even some of the 2's. The 4 and 5 star guys that got redshirted, etc. If I remember correctly, when we were preparing for Michigan in the Gator Bowl in 2010, they put Jameon Lewis as scout team QB all week.

A Sirmon defense was pretty much the football equivalent of a kid being all excited about making a basket before realizing that he scored on the wrong goal

^^Doesn’t remember non game week practices because he was on the golf course with the rest of the kickers.
