OT: Moving Snow

Mine is just gravel, but yeah a atv with a winch and a blade work great, I've moved 8-9 inch snowfall, the really heavy wet stuff I had a problem with the blade riding up on the snow since it has no power down just the weight of the blade.
I hear you. My Ariens has a light but it doesn't work the greatest. I'll probably end up getting a headlamp myself.
I have a Toro 724 QXE. (Don't have room for anything bigger)
It just a forward speed, like that personal pace walking speed on the mowers. It's meets my needs. Just big enough to handle the plowed snow at the end of the driveway and hit a couple neighbors whilst I'm out with it. I was lucky enough to buy all new power everything I wanted a few years ago with all the OT I worked. My last one couldn't handle this much snow.

I’m a poor and just could never justify buying a snowblower for the 1 or 2 snows we usually get per year that I would use it. We are at 55”+ now this winter and every time I go out and scoop now, I wish I had one.

Just bought the Toro 724. Have 2 separate 2-car driveways on a corner lot that got to be too much. After only a couple of uses, i am impressed. Love the Personal Pace. The handle is maybe a tad taller than average, which is good (i'm 6'6").
I use a blade and a 2 stage thrower. About 7 acreages where I live - so I clear the road and all of the driveways so mail can get through.
I got stuck multiple times with my ATV, no way a lawn mower was going to cut it today. We had a county plow get stuck in our neighborhood and they had to have a grader come get him out.
Yep. Nice neighbor came over with his 2 stage and got most of it. Just too heavy to push.
I never got stuck, but so dam much snow I had to make several passes to get down to the gravel took almost twice as long as usual
Man, I love the snow. Once my kids wake up from their naps we’re going to make the best snow fort imaginable.
Yeah, I got the 724 after the first snow this season. My old Toro died after 10 years. The only “trouble” I have had is with the big ice chunks from the plow. Other than that, its been like a warm knife through butter so far.
I almost got the one with the larger engine, but decided that since my old one was a lot smaller, that this would do just fine.
My wife was out there shoveling for what seemed like forever today. It was too cold to open the windows to the house so she couldn’t freaking hear my calls for another beer this morning. So anyways, I had to take her damn cell phone out to her so she could answer and bring me refreshments.

She’s got some talents, but shoveling with no hands isn’t one of them.
I bought a Craftsman 5 HP from a pawn shop 4 years ago for $60. That thing has not failed me yet for the smaller snows. I then thought to get a Ariens Deluxe 28 last year as I figured hey why not make some extra cash and see what it would be like to be a peasant. That Ariens went through anything today. I wont buy anything other than Ariens.
As far as young kids, my buddies 16 year old an his friend went out in West Omaha today, worked a 12 hour day and made over $1500. Not bad for a couple peasants lol.

I lived for 23 years in Colorado without a snowblower. The Colorado sun and a shovel were all that I needed to get rid of 100 inches of annual snow.
Now I live in godforsaken Iowa. Had to get a snowblower because the sun never shines, metaphorically, and it rarely shines, literally. And the 25 inches of annual snow (40 this year) doesn't go away unless you help it.
