I suspect the lockout will extend beyond the normal start of spring training, if only so the owners can grit their teeth and show they are serious. Until that date arrives, nobody really gives two hits about the lockout.
You could not possibly have two worse people at the negotiation table as neither wants to make deal. Rob Manfred is the definition of modern era clown leadership and, Tony Clark is a bitter guy who wants a retrial of the 1994 strike for no other reason then he still holds a grudge as the strike denied him the ability to start his service time clock in 1994. The only saving grace is that Manfred and Clark are such unmitigated disasters when it come to media PR that some sane individuals will step in and guide this to a conclusion.
If this is another example of the adults in charge, this will extend to just before opening day.
If these two will actually be adults, the deal gets done by Jan 31 with both happy and pissed about the same things just different viewpoints.
Manfred sucks so I fully expect the worst outcome possible for baseball. If it's a prolonged lockout, then whatever. The Braves finally won a world series for the first time since 1995 so my fear of never seeing them win again is over.
