OT: Mississippi Hidden Gem Restaurants

So many of my favorite places have suffered too much from covid and I hesitate to list all of my favorite places because someone will comment they are closed, and learning that will hurt my feelings. Covid killed many so many good places.

TaKrai Thai on North Hills Road in Meridian
Shrimp PoBoys at Seafood Express (inside the Maple gas station on H-39)
Chicken tenders or Friday catfish at the pure oil gas station across from courthouse in DeKalb
Jerry's catfish (Igloo on H-49 in Florence)
Gumbo Pot (Halls Ferry Road - Vicksburg)
The Mermaid Cafe (On Lake Catherine - west of Canton)
Ubon's BBQ (801 Jerry Clower Blvd, Yazoo City)
Trace Grill (574 US-51, Ridgeland)
303 Jefferson (303 Jefferson, Clinton)
LOCOS Gas station (corner of Springridge and McRaven Roads in Clinton)



I will add more as my memory improves.

Don't know how I forgot about trace grill, menu is big, prices are reasonable and food is very good.

..except eating roast beef poboys at Frostop and red beans and rice at Betty K's. Other than that, agree Picayune pretty much sucks at most things, but the subject was food.

I had a smash burger with crack dip fries that was 10/10 at a place called Blue Canoe in Tupelo after the 2019 LSU game

I don’t think Blue Canoe counts as a “hidden gem”. Its one of the busiest restaurants in the largest city in Northeast MS.

they don’t take checks either. I saw a customer that had his credit card declined. Rather than take a check, they had him arrested.

I didn't add that because I have not been there in years. The homemade cakes and desert are great. We would order those first and save them for after the meal. Otherwise it could be gone after you eat.
