OT: Millburn Deli

Millburn deli is pretty damn good. I know its my daughter's favorite.

A newcomer to the sandwich market is Barth;s Market in New Providence. Newly expanded to over twice its original size they now have a sandwich counter and are making a good variety of sandwiches. The advantage Barth's has is he make his own cold cuts so the meats are as good as it gets.

As far the the Central Jersey border, I live about 1/2 mile north of Rt 78 in New Prov and consider myself to be in North Jersey. Any border south of my house is fine with me.

I`d consider south of Rt 70 the beginning of south jersey not 195. That is central jersey all the way

I could live with that.

Growing up and living at the shore for over 20 years between LBI and Seaside I always considered South Jersey anywhere from Pt Pleasant/Belmar south. We would rarely go do stuff in the summer north of that. With that being said someone mentioned the German Butcher in Forked River, I lived a few miles from there and NEVER went there for a deli sandwich/hoagie/sub although people loved the stuff there. Joe Leone's in Pt Pleasant is awesome spot now

Is this one of the most underrated deli’s in central jersey? I have never heard of it, but was in the area and in the mood for a NJ breakfast sandwich. Found it on google maps, walked up (the place is huge, has like 3 separate rooms) and ordered the #1 special, Taylor ham egg and cheese for $5.50. The guy put 4 slices of Taylor ham on the grill and a jumbo egg and I thought maybe there was another person who ordered. Nope. And the soft “hard” roll, it was just plain good. I’m on a tear and want to find other gems of central jersey small town Main Street delis with awesome sandwiches as described above ... thoughts

I'm with you on the lines too. Never understood why people argue so much about the lines for north and south jersey and whether or not central jersey exists.

Disclaimer, long time since I have been to Town Hall and never went to Milburn Deli, so I can't say which is best. But understand from old buddies, still in area, that both are damm good and some feel Milburn Deli is better, while others swear by Town Hall

I agree. When I lived in Forked River, I got things like Kielbasa and the like but nothing beyond that. Never had their baked good either.

$5.50 for a Pork Roll / Egg sandwich seems pretty expensive. Most places it's about half that price. Of course in Millburn the commercial rents are probably pretty high, lol

First, this is not central Jersey. Second, it is not underrated at all. If you live in the area everyone knows about this deli. I think it is a little overrated because it has gotten so popular the quality has not kept up. Ten years ago it was the best but now it is still good but not as good.

I grew up there. The last few times I've gone back the sauce on the famous sloppy joe is not what I remember. Will wave and smile as I continue to drive by next time. $$$$

Milburn Deli might have the best Sloppy Joe in the state. But if you are near Brick area check out Irv and Karen's on rt88. Great jewish deli and IMO the best rye bread in the state.

I live 2.2 miles north of 195 in Farmingdale and nobody in a million years would consider us south Jersey thats for sure. Now get south of 70 into the pines and its so south its barely jersey in more ways than one lol

Barth's, really? I'm partial to the Joes at Town Deli across from the NPTS, but will have to try them.

My parents had a weekend place by Cranberry Lake and I own a rental in Phillipsburg. Going out to Sessex, Warren, Hunterdon Counties always felt more like being in Pennsylvania than South Jersey.
