Staying on the border of south beach and Miami Beach with the wife. Looking for food recs (both expensive and reasonable), places to see, things to do etc. This board has never let me down, thanks in advance.

Don't be afraid to leave the beach for dinner. Lincoln Road (the road is closed, its a walkway) has an awesome collection of restaurants, bars, and shopping (not that I care about the last one). Meat Market (Steakhouse, $$$), Quattro (Italian, $$/$$$), Juvia (Asian Fusion, rooftop, $$$$) are great options, all with indoor and outdoor seating. Juvia is my personal favorite.

Thanks, we're pretty close to Lincoln Road and I plan on spending some time there.

Lincoln Road is very nice - some high $$$ but not all. If you want really good Cuban food, there is a place a couple of miles up the road called Las Vegas on Collins Ave in Miami Beach. Not pricey but authentic family-owned place - and the food is excellent. Highly recommend.

Used to live in south fla 15 years ago. In South Beach there is a street called Espanola Way - it's almost like a side street - very beautiful and romantic for you and the wife. And of course you can never lose just walking on Ocean Ave in SB at sunset just people watching.

Avoid eating anywhere on ocean. You'll find some great restaurants on Lincoln as others have suggested. I would also reccomend going to bayside or brickell as it's a cool vibe and some nice restaurants. I haven't lived in south beach for about 4 years so I am out of touch but Prime Italian is still one of the best meals I've had in my life. Joes stone crab is a must as I believe stone crabs are in season. Montys is right on the bay south of fifth and is an awesome place for happy hour and to catch the sunset. Decent raw bar and ok bar food.

Never ate at Prime Italian, but Prime 112 (same owners) was disappointing. Prime 112 is more of a who's who and "let's see what famous people are here" vibe. Would have gone to STK 10 times before I went back. But STK was renovated and I've heard its not the same anymore.

Stayed in Sunny Isles during Christmas and New Years week and found an outstanding brick oven pizza place called Sicilian Oven near Adventura Mall. Would be worth the 30 min or so drive.

Exactly... not the best steak house but Lebron was a regular and every celebrity on their trip to Miami would come at least once on their trip. If you want a great steak go to meat market. If you want to run in to someone go to prime 112. Prime Italian was just on point. I think I paid like $25 for a lobster bisque fra divalo but it was well worth it.

Restaurants on South Beach tend to be overpriced and expensive. Here are some of my favorites:

-La Carreta - 3632 SW 8th Street, Miami (reasonable Cuban Food)

-Rusty Pelican - (expensive)

-Foge de Chao (expensive)

-Cheesecake Factory - 3015 Grand Ave, Coconut Grove, FL 33133

- Joes Stone Crab

Also, while in South Beach/Miami Beach, check your bill before you leave your tip. Almost all of the bars/restaurants put in a service charge (regardless of party size), so you don't need to tip, unless you feel you want to give more. I never encountered that because the service sucked at the places I went to.

Yardbird is good southern food near Lincoln Rd - http://www.runchickenrun.com/miami

Prime Italian is nice http://mylesrestaurantgroup.com/

Do yourself a favor and do a happy hour at Sugar on the roof of the East Hotel in Brickell- can do some light shopping at the new Brickell City Center http://www.east-miami.com/en/restaurants-and-bars/sugar

If you do fast food do a pollo tropical --they are all over

If you go thirty minutes to the north of Miami Beach then go to Hyde Kitchen it's a restaurant built on the beach at the new Hyde Resort -- food is good , restaurant is beautiful and the views - wow! http://www.sbe.com/restaurants/locations/hyde-beach-kitchen-cocktails/

If you want to see the Everglades and some gators up close- Shark Valley -- best place by far to see nature and still be safe, very inexpensive and this is the right time of year for the wildlife to be out there https://www.nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/svdirections.htm
