I still have a cigarette lighter in my truck. My son was asking me about it the other day, I could see the gears turning, I just looked at him and said, “go on, do it.” He didn’t, guess he’s smarter than his dad.

One of my earliest memories as a kid was sitting in the den floor one day playing with my little plastic army men. I was sticking the little rifle barrels in the wall electric plug. After being told a couple of times not to stick things in the electric plugs my dad just casually heads me a little flat screwdriver that he always carried in his shirt pocket. I’m still scared of electricity to this day. Parenting was different back in the day.

Reminded me of the old Jeff Foxworthy routine about protective parents, "hurts don't it?" on touching the stove top and "hell, we used to put a 9000 pound TV on a TV tray". Guy was funny as hell when he first came out.

I shorted out the 2nd floor of junior high by way of a socket and curiosity

In high school Latin class, we’d shape aluminum gum wrappers into the shape of a plug and put it in the outlet. The spark and quick bang would freak out the teacher (I think he invented the langauge, either that or snuck away during nursing home recess to teach) would tell us to go into the hallway while he went to get a principle. After all the pomp and circumstance, we’d walk back into class, sit down, and the bell would ring…..good times.
