Yeah, it's pretty weird to call someone your girlfriend if you haven't even FaceTimed with them, let alone met them in person.

I will say - he was ahead of his time. This thing seemed unbelievable at the time, now - nothing surprises me. Especially after importing my latest wife from eastern europe.

For sure is weird but this was also a time before anyone really knew what what Catfishing was. He was a perfect target being such a nice person, but sadly gullible.

That dude got catfished HARD! I used to think it was more a lie on Manti's part (maybe I was biased because I can't stand ND), but after watching the show I now believe he really was the victim here. Obviously he told some "mistruths" himself about actually meeting her, but I don't think he had bad intent. I expect it was more that he didn't want to be embarrassed and admit that he had never seen his "girlfriend" in person.

That dude woman that got him is pure garbage. She sounds like she thinks she was the victim in all this. I used to make fun of the Manti story, but dude proved to the world how good people are preyed on by straight trash.

I haven't watched it and won't spend time to do it. But people who think that this stuff cost him his NFL career must not watch NFL football. Te'o played behind two 300 lb. monsters at Notre Dame and then in the NFL proved to be a slow, short LB who couldn't cover anybody.

No doubt you are right about his nfl success, but in the documentary you can see a physical change in his behavior from before the news broke and after, even years later you can just see in his eyes that it haunts him. I really did take a new perspective on him from it, I mean i Still chuckle at it but it most certainly ruined his confidence.

If something as trivial as that "ruined his confidence", then his confidence was Charmin soft to begin with.

The guy made millions and still has his health and most of his youth. He is doing better than 99% of people his age. As far as people who I think I should feel sorry for, he is in the back of an extremely long line.
