My how fast Park Place Christian and Hartsfield are moving up. When you consider that NWR, Pearl & Brandon are good solid Public Schools academically and athletically, it is a testament that families are looking for a Christian based education even in Rankin County.

Yeah, I was waiting on all the districts being released before posting as these don't include the non-football playing schools.

Benton got the short straw too by being sent to a football district with Newton, Sylva-Bay, and Ben's Ford instead of being with Tri-County and Manchester.

Prentiss Christian playing 8-man is unfortunately unsurprising. Even though they're in MAIS, they're bound to have been affected in some way what with Jeff Davis's population decrease forcing Bassfield and Prentiss to consolidate in MHSAA.

Hartfield will be the size of Prep and JA as soon as they fully get rid of the stain of University Christian. The fact that the second wealthiest area of Mississippi did not have a viable private school was very telling of how pitiful academically UCS was. UCS had dropped to Class A at one point. The fact that they are AAAA now is a testament to the complete turnaround of the school's academics - athletics really hasn't been a winner at Hartfield quite yet, although they did make their first football playoff appearance this past season.

One more thing...

I wish that MAIS changed up AAA so that there were football only districts. District 4 has three schools (Laurel Christian doesn't play football so they're not listed) and District 5 has four schools. The other three districts have at least five schools (District 3 has six).

I would have looked into moving Park Place in the district with Wayne, Columbia, and Bowling Green just to even out the districts some...

You've been consistently positive with regard to the potential of Hartfield for years.

All of the kids that went to NWR with my son transferred to Hartfield so they could play sports. Has nothing to do with Christian based education with them. Their snowflakes couldn't hang with the big boys so they put them where they would be the stars. When Nick Hogan came from JP to NWR he wasn't "king of the field" anymore and had to adjust to running with the big boys again. Just my 2 cents.

Couple questions/observations:

What's going on at Brookhaven? They only had 16 suit up for football this fall and are now dropping to AA. Wasn't too long ago they were one of the strongest non-Prep/MRA/JA/PCS athletic programs.

Little surprised Sylva Bay didn't jump up after Heidelberg shut down.

Simpson has seen a pretty solid enrollment bump in the past 4-5 years. Are Magee public schools getting worse?

My guess is that Bayou will be AAAA next realignment, once the consolidation completes in Cleveland.

Heidelberg didn't have as many students from Jasper County as one would think (my graduating class of 24? 25? was 50 percent from outside the county). It'd long been a regional school attracting students from Clarke, Jones, and Wayne counties. Once Laurel Christian established its high school, it was a matter of time.

This is more or less the case for Park Place too

West Lincoln and Loyd Star are two of the best small public schools in South MS right now. I think this is killing BA

Hartfield seems to be spending money at a frenzyed pace with a lot of administration overhead (much like their mothership). I'm assuming they are doing this on the backs of the students in the form of tuition. Are they going to get to the cost of Prep or JA and if they do, will parents think, if I'm going to pay Prep/JA prices, I might as well send my kid to Prep/ JA?
