I couldn't get into the whole show. I was too young for Vietnam but was still weary of it and anything about war. I couldn't do "China Beach" either.

I sometimes wondered if Switt fought for a better character arc for Hot Lips and if that led to her rejection of Major Burns and becoming a more sympathetic character. Or perhaps the show hired a female writer.. never looked into it.

TV war shows are just invisible to me - part of the reason is I am even more aware I am watching waiters and bartenders pretending to be soldiers - hard to make work (movies are better that way though)
