And yes I know this is from the 80s, 90s, and 00s and SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT on the current Mets. But us Mets fans know better.

TC could have started Niese yesterday on regular rest, but decided on Niese instead of Matz to face the Nats. At least he has Torres coming in to save the day.

There's a reason Terry's never managed in a pennant race.

Did Collins just double switched Kelly Johnson out of the game? The same guy who hit a home run today?

With just about everybody available with the exception of Clippard, why bring in Torres here? And why double-switch Johnson a lefty batter out of the game this early when he already has homered in this game?

Can't think of a pitcher who is mentally weaker than Niese. You can't pitch him in meaningful games but the Mets didn't have much choice. I'm not a fan of Collins but i like that he stressed the importance of the game to him. In retrospect, it may have threw him over the edge.

Same guy who put Recker, O'Flaherty, and Niese into critical spots. He now needs Torres to go multiple innings.

Why are you surprised?

Niese is his own worst enemy on the mound. I do think Wright should have made more of an effort to make a play on the slow rolling ground ball but probably does not make a difference. Let's see what they are made of and whether they can overcome the adversity.

Now wright gives lame effort on ground ball by him. He had one big hit in the world baseball Classic and now the rest of baseball thinks he is clutch. Look up 2006 nlcs stats he sucked and still suck.

Nice play Ruben !

How does Wright continue to bat at the top of the order? Flores and TD are having excellent months, yet their stuck at the bottom of the order most games.

He continues to play favorites with the vets, which have cost us games recently.

It's a bullpen game now. I'm sure Scherzer is gonna be done also. Time for Collins to get Parnell up?

Can't think of a pitcher who is mentally weaker than Niese. . . .

I disagree. I think it's physical weakness. Ever since he started complaining of shoulder problems last year, his velocity has dropped and his vaunted curveball has completely disappeared. He's relegated to trying to hit corners, change speeds and stay out of the strike zone. In other words, he needs to be a different pitcher than what he was, and the chances of that working out are never good.

So he nibbles. Guys walk. Hitters get into 3-1, 2-0 and 3-2 counts with men on base. And he still tries to nibble because he really doesn't want to give hitters something to hit with men on base. So it worsens. And then eventually he comes in and gets hit. And, even sometimes, he doesn't need to come into the strike zone to get his because his stuff can be so soft.

When pitchers lose velocity, even if they weren't flamethrowers to start with, their effectiveness almost always goes down with it. That's what's happened to Neise. He wasn't a nibbler when he came up. He was a guy who regularly threw 92-93, had a hard cutter, and had possibly the best curve ball in the game. He's nothing like that anymore. It's physical.

This is why Terry sucks. He's had multiple opportunities to use Alvarez and has refused to. The kid is just not prepared to pitch in a pennant race. Now because of circumstances, much of his own creation, he has to go to Alvarez to face Harper.

Great job by the Kid. Terry didn't do you any favors by making Harper your first major league batter.

No decision for Sherzer. $30 mill over the next 7.

Any team stupid enough to give Boras what he's asking for, deserves what it gets.

At this point, I'm assuming we trade Harvey this offseason. If we do, then we need to get a top tier SS prospect back as one of the players.

Tejada is folding as the games become more important.

He also had a clutch hit on labor day 2015.

Seems some of you think everyone sucks. Wright just got the go ahead RBI and Tejada scored the go ahead run. What do you expect from Wright? He has spinal stenosis, and is still out there playing.

Tejada isn't near a good enough hitter to do that with Flores' lack of speed, as just shown.

Get a better bunt down. It's not that hard.
With a hit and run you're just looking for a grounder to the right side. Doesn't have to be scorched.

He's still a quality player, but he doesn't belong at the top of the order. He and TD need to switch places in the order.

Here we go. Robles in the 7th, Reed in the 8th, then Familia. Am I wrong to be nervous?
