I think I'm done with the NBA, I lost big time interest when the Nets left for Brooklyn and I did give it shot rooting for them, but they have been an disaster, but this here just reeks to the high heavens, I can't put my finger on why this bothers me so much but I do know I don't mind super teams, but through a fair process than this crap.

I am not a fan of the NBA at all anymore, but the NBA will survive and prosper because younger people are star driven as opposed to team loyalty driven. At least when it comes to the NBA.

The NBA just keeps getting worse and worse.
Not worse, just more consolidated. The NBA is still the 3rd most popular major sport, but all their frontrunning fans are glomming on to the superstars and the Super Friends teams they form.

We are on a college football board where 124 teams have no shot every year. Somehow that product survives.
The difference is I don’t actually know who will win the championship for certain at the beginning of the year. Alabama wins a lot, sure. Then again we see Ohio St, Clemson, Florida St, Georgia, Oklahoma, etc. that could win any given year. In the NBA, you know within 4-5 teams for certain who will be in the finals. Every single year.

So in a league of 30 you know within 5 whereas in a division of 130 you know within a dozen. You are not making a case for a difference in parity between the two.

I don 't watch or care about the NBA anymore, but this can't be good for the league. So few meaningful teams and games in the EST time zone and only 4-5 good teams. One thing I am rooting for is Lonzo to be traded to Spurs (as part of Kawhi deal) and LaVar vs. Pop in a market no one cares about it. That would be classic.

Great point while the NHL is pretty much the opposite with the fans, it's mostly team loyalty that drives their fan base.

Very true, but talent consolidation is "worse" to me (and I assume many other people).

What talent consolidation? LeBron signed with LA, a team that has no other superstars.

Paul George chose to stay in Oklahoma City, a location that most believe would never be able to attract or keep star players.

The problem has more to do with lousy management by Eastern Conference teams.

Also, people should look back to other eras. Talent consolidation isn't a new phenomenon. The Celtics and Lakers had multiple HOF players on their rosters over extended periods of time.

This. You can predict their Final 4 in October. In fact, I'll predict it now: Lakers/Warriors, Celtics/Raptors
Just like last season.....and the season before that. The NBA has the most pointless regular season of any sport.

Thank god this is over so we don't have to hear the constant updates on the latest speculation of which team he might possibly be signing with based on what he was seen eating for breakfast this morning.

In theory professional sports, especially ones with salary caps are supposed to be competitive throughout. College sports, is not on a level playing field at all, nor is it really supposed to be. You would never consider a team like Akron or Buffalo to win a national championship because they can’t regardless of how many times they win. Look at Central Florida last year. However, teams like UCF and Boise State do happen every year seemingly.

This baffles me because the product is so bad. 24 teams literally have no shot every year.

Well we now have a situation where a couple of players now try to get together on the same team and play as an all star team to win the championship. That's gotta be fixed.

Goes back to MJ, no?

LeBron does have a way of annoying everyone.

.

1.) How you get to a lack of parity is inconsequential. You watch the games and it is mostly one sided with most teams having little to no chance. I don't see how intent can me measured in watching enjoyment. A team wins 65 -3 and it is boring. Who cares if it was intended?

2.) Are college sports not a level playing field? In theory since you like that theory word each school can offer the same thing in equal quantity to all their players. What more can you do be competitive throughout that that?

3.) I agree teams like UCF Florida seem to happen every year. If you mean teams no one expects to win, don't win anything. Of that there is no doubt. Unless they played in some championship games that I'm unaware of.

The reason I brought up UCF is because they went UNDEFEATED in the regular season and were nowhere near being picked for the playoff. It’s not a level playing field, this is not pro sports where the only thing that matters is winning. It is a sport picked by voters, where 4/130ish teams make the playoff. They could do nothing more than they did to be the best team.

He won’t make a difference in the West
I didn't get this move, except he probably wants to be closer to Hollywood so he can hob knob with movie stars year round. So what did he gain in this move? Instead of losing to the Warriors in the finals he may make it to the conference finals and lose?

He has a house here. He is always here. That Ohio schtick is just that. He will jet in and out of there telling everyone it is his "home", never living there again.

He has a bunch of media business interests here.

When you have that much money a house means crap. You can build one anywhere you want and not blink an eye. The business interest, yea hob knobbing with movie stars so he can be in their movies and make his chip and dip commercials. Can't wait for Lavar Ball to start opening his mouth, that's going to be some great entertainment.
