If I've already used dales to remove the mole crickets, is now a good time to lay sod or should I wait until spring? I live in Memphis.

With the cooler temperatures outside, it is a good time to lay wood. I live in denial.

I put down some St. Augustine with the help of a friend about 6 years ago right around this time. The grass was fine. You still have to water it thought regardless.

I worked in Memphis for a Landscape company 20+ yrs ago right out of college. One of the last jobs while I was there involved sodding a new strip mall in Germantown Parkway in Cordova. We laid Bermuda sod on about 1/2” of snow. It was flawless in the spring.

Throw down ten bags of rye seed on your lawn and be the only dude on your block mowing your lawn swamp in January

I laid down centipede this time three years ago and it came up great. The guy I talked at the place I bought it said that they lay down sod year round. Subdivisions are built year round so they have to lay it on new lots year round. He said the roots wont die in the winter and that they will still take root during this time and he was right.

Just put out a hundred pallets in biloxi, it's a fine to put out. Even if it's dormant, will come back great in the spring.

What kind of grass is it?

Good move in Memphis, if the sod is dormant now (Brown) I would go ahead and lay it. It will wake up in the spring and do it’s thing. If it still active (Green) I would wait until late Feb until I put it on the ground.
