Honestly, I doubt the youngest one, LaMelo, attends UCLA or plays college ball even if he were eligible. I could see Lavin simply stop calling or actively recruiting the young man and let the interest fade as he moves on to other targets that do not come with the degree of baggage, drama, or publicity whoring.

Lavin? Nice :joy:

It is a shame the boys have him as a Dad. The shoplifting in China probably was the not the first time he had ever 5 finger discounted something. Good chance the young man is headed for jail sometime in the future and this time Trump will not be there to save his butt. One thing for sure he probably will never play in China.

Alford should have known he'd have his hands full with those two.

I'm guessin he did know. It was worth it to get that successful season with Lonzo last year. Now the Balls are out of his life forever (you know LaMelo will now soon be backing out of his commitment too).

It actually worked out great for Alford. He got all he could out of the best one (Lonzo), and is now rid of the worst one (and his insane dad) before he ever played a game.

Lavin hasn’t coached at UCLA in close to 15 years.

The good news is UCLA has a big problem off their hands, the bad news whatever college accepts that kid is bringing problems they will wish they hadn't.

It is a crime what Lavar is doing to his kid's future if this is true:

He's not transferring to another school," he told ESPN. "The plan is now to get Gelo ready for the NBA draft."

What a friggin joke. Li Angelo has no more chance of being drafted than I do. And his overseas options are also extremely limited. And this would also end his kid's chances at a college career and free college education career.

He's just totally screwing over his kid's future in one insanely stupid self-centered move here.

According to Lavar, there won't be another college, he's entering the NBA draft.

Sheer insanity. Someone needs to step in and save that kid from his dad.

Wow, talk about about a stupid decision. This stuff is pushing it, even for Lavar. He's truly living the gimmick.

Some priceless comments in that article. [roll][roll][roll]

"I'm not sitting back and waiting," LaVar Ball told ESPN. "He wasn't punished this bad in China."

"We get back over here and the consequences were even stiffer than China. So basically they're in jail here."

"I'm going to make him way better for the draft than UCLA ever could have," he said.

"They had him there just to use the Ball family name. They were going to keep the best shooter on the team coming off the bench? That's like telling the Clippers back in the day not to play JJ Redick," LaVar Ball said.

The ball family comment maybe the best one.

If I were UCLA I'd run from that family. There is so much talent out there on the west coast. Why mess around with them? OK to win to answer my question, but is it worth it? Cal has done a great job of staying away from this garbage. And yes Lonzo that's exactly what your dad is IMO.

As someone else said they got the best deal out of this whole thing. Get a great year from Lonzo, but now don’t have to uphold taking the other two as part of the package.

LaVar said UCLA was using the Ball name. I hate these people really. Walton should cut loose on them.
Also, some media are saying the access with the Lakers is all different with the Ball family involved. Magic could kiss my butt. I don’t want or need the hassle. You’re the Lakers for Gods sake. You think Pat Riley would stand for this?
Has the Ball family gotten the helicopter to and from games and practices to save and rest their “superstar”? I feel for the brow beaten kids. Break away, tell dad to take a hike regarding education and “my” career.
