Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi all have land on the other side of the river created when the river changed course and created the oxbow lakes. Some areas are significant and useful land. Why do these states not contest the state boundaries that changed over hundreds of years?

I don't actually know, but I'm guessing the actual boundaries may be survey plots or lat/long, and not natural boundaries.

In any event, I doubt states get too worked up about it. We're probably talking about less than 10k in property taxes? They'd spend multiples of that fighting each other.

Not a bad idea but not really fair. People who live in section 8 housing or even stupid renters always vote to raise property taxes so little Johnny can get free lunch. They dont pay property taxes. Renters ultimately pay more when property taxes increase because rent increases over time, and property tax increasing is one reason why.
