Wife and I are planning a 4 day trip to LBL area in a couple weeks. Looking for a secluded preferably lake view cabin to rent. Nothing fancy, just a place to relax for a few days and get away from it all. If anyone has any suggestions would appreciate it. Have looked online but can’t find exactly what we want. TIA

Thanks nail, yeah I’ve looked at that. Guess I should have been more specific. Want a one bedroom cabin, lake view, secluded, fire pits, grill etc. don’t care about being near marina or restaurant or such things. It’s entirely possible I’ve missed finding one like that but haven’t seen it. Thanks again.

I took my first trip to the LBL/ Kuttawa area a couple weeks ago. Stayed in a really nice AirB&B, ate at Hu-B’s restaurant, played golf at both state parks, and visited Patti’s settlement (BEST bbq I’ve ever had!! It’s a must visit!!).

HOWEVER, if you plan to take a boat, WATCH OUT FOR THE SHALLOW ROCKY AREAS IN LAKE BARKLEY!!! Does anyone on the board have experience with Lake Barkley? Where are the best places to take a boat and not have to worry about damaging it? We wanted to pull the tube and wakeboard but after we noticed the dramatic differences in depth, we decided it was not the greatest idea. Any help on this would be appreciated!

Was just out there and Patti’s had a fire and the restaurant isn’t scheduled to re-open til sometime in October. I think other restaurants that were part of the whole Patti’s settlement are open but not the 2” pork chops or 6” pies!

The restaurant next door to Pattis is continuing their pork chops until they get their new building built. I got the pulled pork plate which was incredible but a buddy I was with got the pork chop and it was crazy good.

Darn. Several of us were there and we called and asked and they said no pork chop. Bummer. One of my favorite treats.

I used to work at Patti's many, many years ago....I still remember how we cooked those pork chops (we baked them first). Lot's of good memories.

As far as the water depth, the best thing to do is go thru the canal and run on Kentucky Lake, but even doing that, always watch the markers for the channel.
As far as BBQ, we have several good places in this area, but my favorite is Jmack going towards Calvert City from where you were off 62, or take I-24 West get off exit 27, go left and it will be on your right, small place but he has won contests for his BBQ including BBQ on the river, that's a annual event in Paducah.

Thanks for the replies. Not planning on boating, just laying back and relaxing, do some grilling, and driving the many backroads in LBL wildlife watching. Used to take a trip down there every fall bow hunting like 30 or more years ago. Love the area. Haven’t been there for many years, so looking forward to going back.

Thanks for the info! I’ll have to try it out next time I’m down there! BBQ is my all time fav food. Can’t get enough of it haha

No commercial businesses on LBL, Barkley Lodge is probably the closest to meeting your criteria.

We have reserved a place thanks to all for the suggestions, really appreciate everyone who had suggestions and thoughts. Wife said I was wasting my time asking here, but she now has to eat crow (or some other such, uh, lost my train of thought). Anyway y’all are the best, thanks again!

KY lake is deep on east side.

North Barkley or KY unless you know lower Barkley.

Lake Barkely State Park, get a cabin there. Enjoy the 40 mile drive through LBL and end up at Patti's for dinner that night.

We have a camper on lake Barkley this time of the year you can rent from H- bubs marina in Kuttawa and follow the channel over to Ky. Lake about a ten minute ride and any bay on the land between the lakes side will be plenty deep for tubing or wake boarding

No problem, sorry about the late response, and I am sorry about bumping this thread back up, but I don't see a way to PM you. Jmack has not only good pulled pork, their chicken, ham, and brisket is great. I have smokers and all my family loves my meat, but I love them, also I love their sauce, it is good to me. Also, they only cook so much meat and run out, they do that to make sure all meat is fresh, don't want carry any over to the next day.
