I’ve used the red mangda for aches and sores and it helped. I have a coworker who eats handfuls of the green stuff (for energy) every day all day and he’s turned into an absolute lunatic.

Yes...only buy it from the Golden Monk! Red Kratom has worked wonders for my wifes fibromyalgia. About $80 a Kilo.

It must be since the legislature on Alabama declared it to be a schedule one drug. Literally now officially more dangerous than the marajuana.

I had a friend that had a real difficult time with it. Almost like he got addicted to it.

I know three people whom have used it regularly. Two of them are conspiracy theorists and have completely lost their damn minds and the third had to go to rehab to get off of it. He was literally robbing money from his retirement fund to afford it. I‘ll keep my distance from the stuff.

Former Speaker of the House Pro Tempore Greg Snowden is the Mississippi lobbyist for the American Kratom Society (the industry's lobbying group). They aren't going cheap. Allegedly, they're paying him $100,000 a year to lobby for them. Also, allegedly Tater Tot got him the gig, after he got caught in a DUI and lost his seat in the House a couple years ago. My personal opinion of him is...this gig fits him to a T.

As a general rule, avoid drugs that are not well-researched or well understood. Remember when synthetic marijuana (K2, Spice, etc) got really popular? Then we figured all the nasty things it was doing to the brain. Didn’t we have a basketball player that basically washed out because of it?

Ole Miss had a football player try to fly because of it.

Stay the 17 away from that ****. Just a matter of time before it’s federally illegal, highly addictive. Not so much dangerous as it is addictive, it is an expensive habit, not to mention unregulated. I have tried it, and yes it works, and yes you will want to take it again, and before you know it, it will be taking you. I’ve seen it second hand, if you take this **** long enough you will become dependent, and you will have mild to strong withdrawal symptoms if you try to go a day, or even 6 hours without it. Withdrawal symptoms are said to be flu like in nature. Also, as someone else said, when you are on this stuff regularly it does change your personality and you will begin acting erratically. I have a close friend that has been battling this **** for 2 years.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s no dangerous narcotic, it doesn’t bring the dangers that most other addictive substances bring, but you’ve been warned that this **** is 100% addictive, and unless you want a personality change and an expensive habit to budget for, stay the 17 away.

I do think there are some medical benefits to the plant, but only when used correctly, regulated and prescribed.

If you are looking for something to take the edge off, just go with Mother Nature’s most tried and true, oldest, most natural medicine out there, Mary Jane. Not addictive, not dangerous. It’s a backwards world when Kratom is legal and Pot is illegal, but that’s a completely different, more political conversation.

Sounds like your ex-girlfriend was into it, too.

Wait, no, that's just the red hair.**

Paul Gallo had a couple people on awhile back talking about how it had ruined their lives. One was a widow of a guy that had gotten addicted, financially ruined them and then died.

I bought some about 5 years ago after a buddy recommended it. I had severe back & shoulder pain. Was eating 4-6 BC powders a day plus ibuprofen. I had to try something, if not the aspirin/ibuprofen was going to kill me. I bought some off the internet, 2 different types. The first time I took at home to gauge how it worked. It did good, a lot better than the BC's. I did that for about a week. I noticed, I had to consume more each time to get the same results. The stuff killed my stomach. Then I noticed my pupils, they were dilated like nickels. I look like I snorted 1/2lb of coke. I threw the **** out. Its also a pain in the *** to consume. Mine wouldn't mix with anything. I had try to shovel this horrid tasting power down with a spoon. I can't describe the texture, it was god awful. Make you choke & coat your teeth & throat. I'd chase the powder with literally a 3/4 gallon of orange juice trying to wash it down. I couldn't image making tea with it. I'd rather drink battery acid.

Agree with this......I work in the addiction treatment world and I tell people two things. First, are you willing to discuss with your primary physician or medical professional who regularly provides physical or mental health care...and Second, I just have a hard time believing much of anything good for my physical or mental health comes from the local 7-11 or gas station.....

Same here on the taste. Gross. It gave me a slight 'euphoria' for a minute but other than that, it didn't do anything for me.

I was asked by someone to find out some information about it due to they were afraid of potential abuse. I have met some counselors and therapist that work with addiction and mental health through some volunteering that I do. It gained popularity due to the ability to help ppl come off of opioids. So it does have potential to help ppl, but it also does need to be used in moderation. You will get some pain relief and slight euphoria from it, but if you go for the "a little more is better feeling".....you will end up dizzy or what they call the wobbles. Not like a drunk dizzy and silly.....a more i need to lay down because i'm a bit nauseas. The stuff at a gas station on lamar is not the same as the ground up Kratom leaf that you can get mailed to you.
It peaked my interest to be curious and guinea pig it. I tried this mess in coffee, lemonade, downing a tea spoon and chasing with anything, orange juice etc........ I tried a yellow strain (or gold) because they said it has a mixture of the energy (green) , euphoria, and the pain relief you get from the (red). It works. I was more relaxed and I did notice that one day that it made my back stop hurting. It did make me constipated though. It can also take a while before you start to feel and I took a bit too much one day and had to lay down for a bit.
So, does it work? Yes. Is it worth it? Maybe, but be careful. There is potential for abuse. So if you have a problem with moderation, I would recommend to stay away.

If you want to go down the rabbit hole. Check out Delta 8 THC.

For those who have tried it. What is the line of reasoning? "Hey there's some mind altering thing that isn't outlawed yet, I really need to try it. Or, I'm dying to try this stuff, if it safe?" Legit question because I completely lack the insight to understand what would compel me to pursue it.

I suffer from Muckle Wells syndrome (very similar to Lupus.) I take an immunosuppressant daily. There have been times the pharmacy wasn’t able to get my medicine delivered to me in time, or I had mistook dates and made mistakes on my own- insurance switched up etc.

My own experience was I am terrified of opiates and ibuprofen and Tylenol weren’t working. So I went to the liquor store and asked for Kratom. It helped.

Though I will never touch it again after seeing how it’s been doing folks around me. If my job allowed it I would be heavily induced by THC daily.

Great point. Chronic pain is will absolutely drive a person toward anything that might help. I had not even considered that angle. Sorry your dealing with all that. I hope you find some relief.
