OT: Kia Telluride

We bought an Acura MDX recently. So far it’s really nice. We needed the third row for pretty much every reason you mentioned. We ended up deciding between a Highlander and the MDX. I was indifferent, wife wanted the MDX.

Thanks VH. Exact same dimensions and what appears to be nicer finishes in the higher end models without having to get black rims. This is why I came to the pack. I am in now leaning this way.

We went the same way as VH, but we went with the Pallisade Calligraphy model. It took a 2 month wait for the car, with a deposit, but was worth it to not pay over MSRP. There were some dealers (California) asking 5k to 10k over MSRP due to shortage. I went into the SUV market looking at higher end Full Size SUV’s. Wife didn’t want anything that big. I went to Kia and they were sold out of Tellurides but told me to go check out the Pallisade (same layout inside). We were concerned about leg room in 2nd and 3rd rows. We never made it back to Kia. The Pallisade has a lot of high end features without a crazy price tag and the reviews on the vehicle were good. My favorites on the Pallisade are the sunroof/moonroof, layout with captain chairs, interior lighting at night, and the reclining/automatic button 3rd row. Never thought I’d say it, but I bought a Hyundai.

I'm never going to own a VW again. When we first met she had a Passat. In less than a year, I bet 6 fuel injectors went out on a 4 cylinder car. The first time I opened the door from the inside, the handle broke off on the passenger side door.

I don't know that they are all that bad, but I have heard it's either all or nothing with VW's. You either get one that never has an issue, or a real lemon.

We were married less than 6 months before I had her trade it in on a 3 year old Tahoe. I swear sho drive a rental/loaner car on that VW more than the actual car. I'm sure others have had better experiences.

The only flaw I have seen in either, is a lot of complaints about the windshield. Chipping and cracking way to easily. It seems to be in the 2020 models of the Palisade and the Telluride. The fact that both are S Korean makes me think a supplier of both had an issue. Do you happen to know if it was resolved or something never on your radar?

I see it now. On the build your own site the image was playing tricks on me when one seat was laying down. I see the little folding arm though. Again. Interior on this highlander is much nicer than I am accustomed to wit Toyotas. It checks all the boxes for the dependability too.

We love the Highlander Platinum. The back row seats are only good for small children though (which was also the case for the Pilot we traded).

The first time I saw a Telluride, I was shocked toget closer and see it was a Kia. I know nothing about them other than they look great.

It could be a bit smaller but how about the Subaru Ascent? It has 3 rows.

I had a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS and I had zero problems with it. Hard to beat their warranty too. The Palisade replaced the gls version.

The newer highlanders 3rd row has more of a recline on the back. It allows for a bit more room than the 2014-2019 models. We had a 2012 model when we traded for a 2020.

They are everywhere. I had forgotten about the old Subaru Baja (the early 2000's El Camino looking Subaru.) I see them all the time now and probably have not seen one in TX in 10 or more years.

It's not a dependable ride but it's a comfortable one. Kia still has a ways to go. Inlaws bought one. Been a lot of small issues, primarily electrical and with the computer stuff. Just annoying things.

The auto-lending bank I work for ranks vehicle makes when we underwrite loan applications... Honda, Toyota, and Subaru of course are tops, next comes Mazda and then Hyundai and Kia. Nissan and Mitsubishi are distant back markers in the Asian import segment from our Risk Department.

We live in Ocean Springs and I never really paid attention until the last few months when we were looking at cars for my daughter but I would guess if 8 cars go by at least one of them is a subaru outback. They are everywhere.

I just bought a 2022 Outback. I don't really like it, but the wife won out.
