OT: Kaleb Johnson getting carries with the packers

He had the most team carries Sunday with 8 as the Pack used a lot of ball carries. KJ with a 31 yard run and 42 total yards so the going was tough on his other carries which looked like the same for his other teammates toting the ball.

Good to see him getting playing time and maybe his sort of 1 cut, gliding style will fit that similar zone blocking scheme.

I’m happy to see him have some success. But it looks like he fumbled and that’s something he can’t do when you’re trying to win a spot. I think the rub on him has been boom or bust as well. 31 yard carry’s are great but not if you run the ball seven more times for 11 yards.

Don’t know if it was the last time he was on the field, but he fumbled inside Tampa Bay’s 5 yard line. You just can’t do that.

Did he get cut yet? GB must have too many RB injuries to get rid of him.

Not good, he fumbled on KR duty for the Steelers and then never saw the field again…although I think he also had two RBs ahead of him….

Right now he has been doing ok for a team that has had O-Line issues and the passing game has not been great either. Has to hang on to the ball but if the O-line starts to improve a bit and gets healthier he could be a nice add to the team. They are just a tough offense to watch right now and I am a packer fan.

He had one long carry
The others were 7 carries for 11 yards.
Not good any way you look at it.

I mentioned the same thing in my original post if you were not to distracted or wandering in your brain to read it. Just kidding a bit but I hope Kaleb keeps getting carries and keeps popping some big runs with a good average per carry. Kaleb is a smooth type runner and doesnt portray himself in college or the pros as a crazed out running rolling ball of butcher knives like a lot of pro runners. There are a lot of runners that just go balls to the walls on every run looking to bulldoze rather than make a cut.

But I watched him close in Pittsburgh.
Just don't see enough explosion with him

Yeah, I agree with the explosion and I didnt see any of his play for Pittsburgh either pre-season or during the season. At Iowa I called his style a smooth glider, multiple cuts with very good acceleration but not a basher. I would liken him to an Eric Dickerson who didnt look to bash into clogged up, heavy defensive fronts

It is interesting. A school that had Shaw, Banks, Greene, and Kaleb as bigger stars all drafted, it's Ladell Betts and Tyler Goodson that have actually had staying power to keep finding spots. Greene did put up a couple 1000 yard seasons though, just a short career and Tavian got hurt pretty quickly.

Ronnie Harmon had a really long and productive NFL career a lot of which was as a receiver out of the backfield. But rushed for almost 3K yards and caught if for more than that, 34 scored TDs.

I always liked watching Betts and Goodson, well all of our players, but when all these runners had a hole they were very good

Greene had a short but productive career. Not totally surprising to me, dude ran like Bob Sanders played safety.

It was for sure the right choice, but if he had improbably stuck around for ‘09 I think that team is national champs.

Didn't Banks suffer a nasty knee injury as a rookie? IIRC he never was able to recover sufficiently from it.
