OT: Jim McElwain may be out.

sources are reporting he's gonna be fired for making 'false claims' about death threats to his family & players. The 'false claims" means the school doesn't have to pay his $12.9 million buyout.

My theory is they must really hate him, and they must want Chip Kelly before Tennessee gets him.

Nick Saban has got more coaches fired in the SEC than anybody.

That's what the "unspecified sources" are saying. Florida is looking for just cause to fire McElwain. I believe UF are jumping the gun on terminating McElwain. It's not like it's back to back losing seasons.

I agree that they are jumping the gun. They have been to the SEC title game 2 years in a row. They have a bunch of player suspended this year also. They were 6-0 his first year until Grier got suspended.

McElwain didn't have Grier's back because he was a Muschamp recruit (or something along this lines). We should be sending him thank yous for letting an elite QB fall into our lap.

I do remember some jackass with baaaad hair plugs and an 80s hair band groupie looking wife getting on ESPN almost 10 years ago making similar claims but yet no police in Northern WV ever heard word one about it. I know if someone made a death threat about me or my family the police and as many folks in law enforcement as I could find would be alerted to find those SOBs.

Desperate people do desperate things. This is a guy in turmoil that is constantly being asked if he laid naked on a dead shark, maybe he thought making himself a victim would get the press off his back for a little bit and let his season play out.

I'd say Chip Kelly's agent may be #1 reason why they are trying to get out of McElwain's contract. I'm pretty confident in saying that UF officials know they don't have due cause to fire him, but are floating this story out there for the purpose of 1) discrediting the coach even more 2) getting fans who support the coach to back down 3) hoping that McElwain will negotiate the buyout down and agree to leave.
