On Amazon and I purchased Showtime. Just got done with Billions, good show. I noticed Ray Donovan, but I'm just not a big Schreiber fan. Is it good? I tried Shameless, not my cup of tea. Any recommendations?

I second the Deadwood recommendation, watching it now. Another classic is The Wire. Both of these are on Amazon Prime Video.

On Amazon, I surprisingly loved Flea Bag. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea but both my wife and I thought it was fantastic - and we rarely agree on shows.

Anybody watched The Boys on Amazon? Have heard good things but mostly from online reviews - be curious if any "real people" have liked it.

The Wire is the standard by which all shows should be measured. You should do this one first and be sure to not get frustrated with the amount of characters you get. About episode 7 or 8 of that first season it all starts to click and then the show is pretty phenomenal from there on out. A lot of folks slam season 2 cause it diverts from the streets somewhat, but I really enjoyed it and thought it was important for the story, in particular for a character that shows up in season 3. Seasons 3 and 4 are the best 2 seasons in TV history in my opinion.

Another show that my wife and I just finished is The Americans. It was a very solid 6 seasons and had one of the more satisfying endings of any TV shows I've ever watched.

I like Yellowstone, but I cut the cord, and not able to watch season 2. I enjoyed City on a Hill. I'll have to check out the others.

I agree The Wire set the bar pretty high, my favorite show ever. I'd love to binge a show that great.

Third for Deadwood series on HBO.

The recently-released Deadwood movie is a revisiting of the characters in the series somewhat after the end of the last season.

Start your Deadwood viewing with Season 1 of the series, not with the movie.

If you like superheroes watch The Boys. It's an antihero superhero show. Really good.

Fleabag is great. Very clever and well written. The main character breaks the fourth wall better than any character on television.

I'm through episode 5 of The Boys, and I've enjoyed it. With so many shows and so little time, I'll bail if something doesn't keep my interest.

Banshee was on Cinemax

Yeah I was thinking it was Showtime. Homeland and Brotherhood are decent. Californication's story gets old but the character Hank Moody is both ****** and awesome. He's on Derek Jeter's level when it comes to the ladies.

Ray Donovan is very good. IF you liked The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire is a must-see. BE takes place primarily in the Prohibition era at Atlantic City's Boardwalk. Great show, IMO. Fantastic plots, great acting across the board and superior sets and costumes.

Ray Donovan is very good. A new one on Showtime is City on a Hill. I think it's pretty good too.

Another vote for Fleabag on Amazon. I watched the first episode one night without knowing anything about the show's premise. In a matter of days, I'd watched both seasons in their entirety. I thought it was phenomenal.

I enjoyed the first season of Homeland and I've heard great things about the rest of it. If I had Showtime, that'd be high on my list of things to try out.

I'd also like to see what David Lynch did with the third season of Twin Peaks on Showtime, but I'm guessing that'd be a harder watch that most -- if not all -- your other options on that channel.

The Boys was great if you ever wanted to watch a hard R rated Avengers or Justice League.

On the subject of all time greatest tv series, I have yet to see one as good as Breaking Bad. It is the tv equivalent to watching a Quentin Tarantino movie.

It did. the only people who knew it was ending were the people involved in it. Showtime is doing a new season in the next year I believe. Kind of going to be like true detective though and not be related at all to the previous seasons

I still say Billions is one of the best ones out there. Just tremendously nuanced characters. The bad guys are the good guys, and the good guys are the bad guys. Humor is well-timed. Tons of local NY celebrities make cameo appearances. One of the best-written series since The Sopranos. It's addictive.

I have tried watching this 2-3 times now and I can’t seem to make it past the 4th episode. How a show that lots of people call the Gold Standard can start as slow as it does, is beyond me. Maybe I’ll give it another try one of these days.
