The races at Yonkers are still scheduled for tonight despite a trainer dying from the virus on Monday and Cuomo's Zone being three miles to the East.

Who cares when they cancelled it, there’s no one there anyway

Underappreciated post. Well done. Laughed out loud.

So I went to WOR, then to WCTC.....no game.
I'm thinking "What the F..k" What outlets are covering the game?
The teams have already traveled there. There are very few people in the building. What is the risk?

By the way, was in A.C. last Saturday. The two casinos I stopped at were packed

And most of those who show up would be from suspect groups.

We can look at this B1G Tourney cancellation and the problity of the NCAA Tourney being canceled as: Better safe than sorry or this $#!t sucks, but in either case it does hurt. Especially because RU MBB fans have waited since the 1991 NCAA's for another invite.

I'm bummed, but understand why, even if I don't like it.

This was inevitable. People need to wake up. There won't be any live sports for weeks by the end of this weekend. Last night was the tipping point. As we saw with the NBA, once just ONE player tests positive, it essentially grinds a league to a halt.

Look at the NBA. One infected guy on Utah Jazz. Now that whole team, plus all five teams they've played in the last two weeks, plus two other teams that used the same plane are all under quarantine, and who knows how many will end up infected. Those guys are pros. Our kids are just that- our kids. Their parents put them in the care of our universities and conference and they have to do the right thing by them. It sucks, but it was the right thing to do.

Coronavirus: Donovan Mitchell second NBA player to test positive, per report, after Jazz teammate Rudy Gobert

Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell has tested positive, making two Utah players with positive tests.
The NBA has gone into a be safe, not sorry, mode and I imagine most, if not all, sports will be doing the same.

Schools canceling classes make allowing their teams to participate in sporting events, hard to justify.

So because you are having a tantrum like a 5 year old screaming on the floor thousands of people should be put at risk even if they played in an empty stadium.

Dude get a grip.

From CNN:

A rush of news just happened. We'll catch you up on what's closed, canceled and postponed.

From CNN's Brian Stelter

The country's slow-motion coronavirus shutdown is speeding up. Companies and organizations are making new announcements almost every minute. These are just some of the announcements from the past few hours:

  • Broadway is going dark.
  • The PGA Tour is banning fans.
  • The NFL is cancelling its annual meeting.
  • Numerous basketball tournaments are canceled.
  • Major League Soccer's season has been suspended.
  • The National Hockey League's season has been suspended.
  • This month's release of "A Quiet Place II" has been postponed.
  • The next "Fast and Furious" movie has been rescheduled for April 2021.
  • Some scripted television shows are pausing production. Additional talk shows are forgoing studio audiences.
  • The Montclair Film Festival is being rescheduled.
  • Jerry Seinfeld's comedy shows are being postponed.
  • Billy Joel's performances at Madison Square Garden are being delayed until the fall.
  • The Metropolitan Museum, Carnegie Hall and other New York museums are temporarily closing.
  • In Washington, The National Archives has canceled events through the beginning of March.
  • In Los Angeles, City Hall will close to all non-city hall employees.
  • Sunday's Democratic debate on CNN is being moved from Phoenix to Washington.
  • The Association of Tennis Professionals suspended the men's pro tour.
  • NASCAR will hold races without fans.
And within minutes of writing this post, the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cleveland was postponed and Duke University suspended all athletic competition.

Add another to the list.

Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced that the start of the season will be delayed by at least two weeks and has canceled the remaining Spring Training schedule.

The MLB season was set to start on March 26.

"Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our players, employees and fans. MLB will continue to undertake the precautions and best practices recommended by public health experts. We send our best wishes to all individuals and communities that have been impacted by coronavirus," the MLB said in a statement.

B1G cancels the game 10 minutes before tip off

this just gives the NCAA a big opening to cancel the tourney

the RU screw is real

God Hates Rutgers

that is all
Best B1G finish in history, best season in a long time, and the likely invite to March Madness all comes crashing down. RU Screw once again.

"we stopped the world"!
"well nothing ever became of it"
"Of course cause because >>WE STOPPED THE WORLD" ...

I can't wait for the Netflix movie on this in a few years. I just wish there was a place where you could officialy register your position and be held accountable for it. But then again, since these actions have pretty much taken the cards off the table there is no way for accountability for being an over-reactionary hover mom of a human being.

Duke University suspended all athletic competition

Interesting....independent of action by ACC at the conference level?

Not a big deal but I guess they are forfeiting contests if the other team is ready to take the field.
