Nick Saban on ESPN earlier was explaining Florida State situation said if they are in the portal, there’s a reason they are in the portal. Most of Syracuse players in the portal didn’t play last year and were sitting on the bench with the exception of Mc Cord. They also were plenty of 4 stars downgraded to 3 stars when they were in the portal.

Cuse will improve this year to 6-8 season wins considering the last few years they were 6-7, 7-5, 5-7, 1-10, and 5-7. Their recruiting is better looking like 50 this year when in the past they were 80.

Saban is right about guys in the portal before, but I think that's less the case now with the high % of guys in the portal every year. Some are just looking for a bigger paycheck. It's less about not being good enough to crack the lineup at their last school anymore. Of course, if you get a team of mercenaries only looking out for their own $$, that's a different coaching challenge.

Fran is no different from almost every other first time head coach. He will need to take his lumps and maybe on the other side, he will be a good head coach. But that's not a guaranteed outcome.

I don’t think not getting playing time at the current team necessarily means you’re not good. There are plenty of players that become good contributors at their new teams.

There’s a balance between wanting playing time and money and it’s different for each individual.

In the first half the announcers linked Fran with Greg and closed by saying how he is now recruiting over him in NJ. The gaslighting was truly amazing to hear.
Huh ?
According to Rivals, Syracuse's 2025 class includes two New Jersey guys...one ranked #17 and one at #29 in NJ.
Rutgers class includes players ranked #7, #11, #12, #13, #16, #18, #21, #25, #38, and #40 in the state.

I bet it was that guy Shanish something. His lacrosse takes for Syracuse are legendarily hilarious.

For some reason Rutgers and NJ is constantly in his head every broadcast he does.

Remember this was an ACC broadcast, they have to pump up their own no matter how inaccurate it is.

Are we 8.5 point favorites playing at home against a purported bad team traveling 3000 miles east? The two situations are not even remotely close.

Tough game for Fran. His best player on D, Marlow Wax, was out. However, our captain and two year sack leader, Toure is out for VT at Blacksburg. RUTGERS has quite a bit more depth on D, doe.

Thanks.. now.. seeing that play.. would safety help over teh top have solved that back-shoulder-throw?

Hmm.. maybe.. CB could have trailed him knowing the safety had him long. QB would have seen safety help and thrown elsewhere? QB would have first looked there, seen safety help, then got hassled by blitz? Yeah.. I could see the case for bad coverage call.
