Any recommendations?

My sense is the main benefits come from a loud alarm and the signs/stickers. Anyone used a system with no external monitoring?

I'm looking at iSmartAlarm, SimpliSafe, Vivint, Frontpoint, and Livewach. I'm open to other good ideas.

Much obliged, gents.

Vivint. About one year now. Been pleased. They tied into existing system. Door wi die and motion detector. Like the mobile activation app and activity check on line.

I like the monitoring because I travel a good bit and I like the peace of mind. If you are going to be there all the time I would not mess with it. Get it installed on your exterior doors so you can hear the beeps when they open and close, and beyond that get a dog and a gun.

I have had Vivint for 2 years.

I especially like the camera features. You can watch your house on your cell phone using the cameras. You can turn them using your phone. It records too. Very useful if your house is broken into.

Live in a decent neighborhood, lock your doors and carry homeowner's insurance. Anything more is a waste of money.

I have livewatch for about 4 years. It is a great company and cheap as hell. They have you buy the system upfront and install it yourself. It is very easy. Or you can use an existing system in your home. I pay $12.95 a month for monitoring. This includes text to our phones if the alarm is tripped.

We sometimes travel for a couple of weeks at a time and prefer monitoring. I also have young kids and like that the system is in my room and it would be tripped if they were to open a door at night for some reason.

The customer service from livewatch is very good.

Security Solutions in Starkville is fantastic to deal with! They cover a good part of North Mississippi. Good home town people. If you ever have trouble with your system, you can walk in the door and talk to the CEO. Customer service can't be any better!!! They also have a really cool gun room in the back that has some nice stuff! Go with a local company and installer!

we use simplisafe
we've been very happy with it.
no contract is the best part but for $25 a month you can't beat it.

they use tmobile and Verizon for their cell service, make sure you get the one that picks up the best at your house.
Verizon worked best for us.

use the Colin Cowherd code to get 10% off the upfront cost - if that is still going

I live in Reservoir area and when I'm off work during the week will leave to run errands and leave garage door up and doors unlocked. Never had one thing stolen. Been there since 1998.
