I have an Apple 7 cell phone and many months I get a text about 10 to 12 days before the next month date that says I have used 75 percent of my usage and will be charged $15 if I go over by the date. I am on someone else’s plan. Is there a way to find out how much I have left each day. Thank you in advance.

Who is your cell phone carrier?
I have Verizon so I have the My Verizon app installed. That will clearly show you data used and how much is left.
Not sure if the fact of you being on someone else's plan would complicate you having access rights to see that info though (if Verizon). It might, as I've obviously logged into my account at one point to be able to see this.

Try going to settings, cellular, scroll down to see usage

It is ATT. It looks like I have used 383 GB in four days. I don’t see anything that tells me what percentage that is though.

If you then click on usage does it tell you 383 gb of? My plan is unlimited so not the same.

No, doesn’t say what the total amount can be. I turned off a bunch of things I never use like files, reminders, itunes. Maybe that will slow the total used some.

Maybe I am not reading it right. I only go on websites. New period started four days ago and I haven’t even listened to any Rutgers podcasts or watched any nature videos because I am trying to find ways to cut the amount.

I just checked and under cellular data, it definitely says current period 383 GB and then current roaming 0 bytes.

Maybe that is the total usage since you got the phone, not sure

Ha 383 GB in 4 days is insane. I used to use under 2GB a month. Sometimes I went over so now I have unlimited. ATT may have a app that tells you your usage. I know Verizon does

It says Safari is 360 GB. Can you still get to websites with that turned off. I found more things to turn off that I never use like TV and Wallet. I guess I could turn off Maps too.

Even though it says current period, that is from the last time you reset the stats. Go all the way to the bottom and hit reset stats button.

Just too much free time . When we had layoffs at the end of March, thought at worst it would be July 1 until we were brought back. My legs can only take so much hiking and I have read more books since March than I have on the last 20 years. —Could you guys tell me if listening to a 20 Rutgers podcast uses half of say a 20 minute nature video? Thanks

360 MB sounds right, GB just sounds crazy ...unless you're hosting video conferences and streaming movies every day. Are you using data all the time even when you think you're on WiFi? I have to shut my 4G off because it never auto-switches to WiFi.

I have ATT and if I run low it sends the text warning and says I can text a number to get a data overview.

ATT kinda blows.

RUBB, I did that and everything now says 0 bytes. I still can’t find anything that tells me what percentage I have used up for the current month.

No video conferencing, gambling sites, or actual movies. I do like to watch short nature videos, but because of the usage warnings I rarely watch those anymore. I always have WIFI turned off since I don’t use my phone really when I am at a doctors office or McDonalds where they have access.

If you want to track usage on the iphone (not the carriers app), you need to reset at the beginning of each billing period.

It’s actually cheaper to have unlimited usage nowadays. Call your carrier and see what they have for you

I see you didn't list porn usage. That might be your problem. 😀

36, I do not have WiFi/internet service. Newell, I am on my sisters plan and she gave it to me for Free as a birthday gift so I don’t want to ask her to upgrade.

if that usage is truly from the last 4 days, then something is wrong. as a heavy user of my phone (GPS, streaming music, video), i've never exceeded 4GB in a month. Even with having GPS on for hours while traveling.

Someone told me to make sure I don’t have more than one screen open so maybe that will help if I keep more of an eye on that. The only thing I kind of miss are the outdoors videos. Some states have 15 minute or so Videos about their state parks, wildlife programs, etc.

I'm a newbie to smart phones, but I had a large total. Look at the statistics page & scroll to the bottom and see if you have an option to reset statistics. I think the 380 GB is the last time since the statistics were reset rather than from the beginning of the billing cycle. I reset the stats the first of every month and the readings are pretty reasonable for those monthly cycles.

That still shouldn't take that much data. I've streamed entire soccer games and hour long youtube videos without chewing thru that much.

You can just dial *3282# (*DATA#) on your phone and they will send you a text with your usage for the period (for AT&T) so you won't have to reset anything.

Reset your phone the first day of the billing cycle. You will then be able to see how much data you use every billing cycle.

We do not have Unlimited Data on our Verizon plan. Using Waze on trips is what usually pushes us near the monthly data threshold.

Heaven, are you comfortable texting your sister and asking her what the data plan is? Or perhaps just call your carrier from your cell to ask what the plan is?

Whoa that's 35-40 NFL games worth of data. You could have malware using your data

Heaven the usage total you are seeing is probably the sum of all users on the plan.

If it’s ATT, just call *DATA# (*3282#). It’s an free automation that will send a free text on your usage for the current billing cycle.
