OT: Here's a solution if you find a particular topic boring

Don't click on the thread. Simple, right?

What one person finds boring, another person might find interesting. That's a given.

There's no need to complain that others are talking about something you find boring . . . is there?

There's a huge difference between talking about an inconsequential topic and beating a dead horse.

Edit to add: If the topic is too pedantic for me (who is quite possibly the most pedantic person on this here site), then it's getting into beating a dead horse territory as far as I'm concerned...

I certainly understand your point, and it is a valid one.

Sometimes you just have to lead the sheep back to civilization. Otherwise, they will lead hollow, boring lives.

I wish there was a way to hide a thread. Not delete it where other people can't see it, or lock it where another thread just inevitably gets posted. Just something to make it disappear from my life.

So, an echo chamber. You seek social media. SPS may not be your jam.

An "Ignore Thread" button would be nice. There's a number of threads that I would like to ignore when they start going off topic.

Does anyone else find that Heinz shouldn't have introduced a new mustard? Seriously inferior to French's.

If you think the horse has been beaten to death just pass over the topic.

If that’s truly the case it will die quickly.

No it’s really not though.

It’s simple supply and demand. If the topic isn’t in demand, it will die.

Seeing a bottle of Heinz mustard at a cookout tells you everything you need to know about that host's respect for their guests. It's not as bad as seeing Hunt's ketchup though - you put out anything other than Heinz there, it's just a slap in the face.

Heinz makes several legit BBQ sauces and they are cheap compared to some of the niche brands. The Carolina Mustard and The Spicy Carolina Sauce are two of my favorites and I try them all.

It’s simple supply and demand. If the topic isn’t in demand, it will die.

And that’s exactly what happened.

There are times when dead horse topics might need a little assisted euthanasia.

I wasn’t the only one who thought that a topic should die & it did.

That’s Supply and Demand right there.

And on that note, this thread is getting too boring & pedantic for me.

Okay . . . so how about this? Let's say that 10% of posters want to continue talking about a topic that 90% of posters find "boring." Should those posters be permitted to continue disscussing the topic?

If not, then where is the line? 25%? 50%? 51%?

Why shouldn't those posters be able to discuss the "boring" topic? How is that hurting the posters that find the topic boring?

Again, how difficult is it for someone whom finds the topic to simply not click on the thread?

Truth.

The same thing can be said for mayo and Hellmann's.

Believe it or not, I've been to a few cookouts that didn't have ANY mayo. In every case, I located the host and asked him/her (as nicely and as calmly as I could), "Where is the mayo?"

What kind of a human being would have a hamburger/hot dog cookout and not provide ANY mayo as one of the available condiments? WTF?

I live in the Washington DC metro area though . . . people here are kinda wierd.

When it’s the first thread on the topic, it’s easy and I’ve done it many times.

There have been *five* threads on this topic. I’ve only responded to one & said “Enough.”

It just depends on which mod happens upon the thread and how they feel at that given moment. Its a crapshoot and you crapped out...at least I think that is how the game goes.

Way to "spice" up this topic

The best way to not get comments (postive or negative) on here about your topic is to just not post it!
