OT: Her First Time Using Gas Pump?

Let's face it , us NJ residents are not smart enough to pump gas. In fact the State Government said so.

In 1949, the Retail Gasoline Dispensing Safety Act and Regulations banned drivers from pumping their own gas in New Jersey. Like so many laws, the statute claims the ban is for the drivers’ own good:

Because of the fire hazards directly associated with dispensing fuel, it is in the public interest that gasoline station operators have the control needed over that activity to ensure compliance with appropriate safety procedures, including turning off vehicle engines and refraining from smoking while fuel is dispensed

Now I for one want this law to remain in place forever. Why do I want to get out of my car in bad weather and pump my own gas? I certainly do not. If they had self-pumping here, the price for self-pumping (yes I mean pumping gas) won't go down, instead there will be a premium for paying for someone to pump it for you. Vote out any politician who tries to change it.

I am gonna throw out that anyone arguing and making such a big deal over having to pump their own gas has got to be over 60 years old... lol especially being as entitled as to believe they shouldn't tip... lol Kinda like europeans when your a waitor... no one wants to wait on europeans, they never tip

The system works differently in mainland Europe. The waiter comes and tells you what the bill is, and you tell him/her how much gratuity to add. So they come here waiting for someone to do the same thing, and when nobody does, they figure tipping is not done in America.

In some nations in Europe, particularly France, the waiter will be insulted if you leave a substantial tip -- his/her tip has already been figured into the bill and the waiter will think you are implying that he or she is poor.

In some places (like NJ), it's technically illegal although there is no effort to enforce. When you top your tank, a lot of gasoline volatilizes into the atmosphere and helps to cause ozone and other photochemical oxidants (that is, summertime urban smog). While I'm at it, I should mention that there is a law in NJ against idling your vehicle for more than two minutes for the same reason.

Now i see yer a lawyer, but isnt the word "technically" when used by a lawyer normally mean a buncha BS?
So thier isnt a "law" against topping off yer tank, but there is some law pertaining to DEP, or EPA regulations about releasing gasoline vapors into the atmosphere at a gas station?
2 min Idle pertains to DEP, EPA regulations coded into title 39.
And topping off your tank will cause EVAP problems and eventual failure which will then light up yer little thingy on the dash control board.
And could ya please stop usin all those big words.
