Did the haunted tour of the Missouri State Penitentiary. Had been in operation from 1836-2004. Only did the 2 hour, but after doing that I have been wanting to go back and do a longer tour!

ok we have a tread about UFOs, now how many have been in a haunted place/house and describe it.
In all seriousness:

I was on the Kuwait Naval Base in '98 for an exercise. The warehouse we were using, was where the Iraqi's were executing Kuwaiti's. (First Gulf War)

The Prince of the Kuwait Royal Navy and a few of his closest men, told me that building was haunted. They had seen and heard the spirits of those executed in and near that building.

Maybe a coincidence, but shortly after that, my troops had told me that they had heard screaming in there and had seen apparitions. I also heard the screaming on a few occasions, and while I didn't see the apparitions, I shaw strange shadows and felt like I was being watched.

My Godparents farm in Springfield, near Platteview, was also what many would consider haunted. Lots of creepy **** that my family saw and still happens.

Disclaimer: I don't have PTSD, was not an Army Ranger that could only verify my service during drunken calls to other Board members, ready to wield my DD214 like Ron Jeremy would his pork sword in a movie, or getting paid by Uncle Sam to stay home.

That was wild! It was like watching a trainwreck while someone ran their fingernails down a chalkboard.

Shared a backyard fence with a family wherein the ladies boyfriend was stabbed to death by her 18 years old son. The boyfriend (probably about 45-50 years old) stumbled out the front door of the house and died boots up on the front yard. For about 2-3 years after the boyfriend died I had the large 3'x11/2' plastic storage tubs falling off my shelves in the attic for no apparent reason. Finally just took all the plastic tubs off the shelves and it stopped happening. For awhile there every time we heard one of the tubs fall and bang on the attic floor we just said the Ray (the dead boyfriend) was in the attic again.

My town. Villisca (dare I say it) Iowa. The axe murder house. My dad's house was also haunted. Dr. Poore shot himself in it. We would hear him walking up and down the stairs, French doors would open and close on their own. Hangars in my closet would rattle in middle of the night.. on another note my family settle in Nebraska. Lived in Norfolk and Pierce. Was raised a Husker.

My old mans house definitely had something in it. When I was younger I’d go down into the basement to do laundry, lift weights, jam out and what ever...one thing is always remember was when my back faced the basement (the basement had stairs on the inside of the house that lead down to to the basement) and I started to head to the stairs...right then the hair on the back of my neck would instantly stand up, my whole body would be covered in goose bumps and your skin felt like it was just absolutely crawling on my back. You could just tell something was right behind you and dam near on top of you. Your body knows and will tell you if a spirit or worse is around or near you. Hell, Just telling you guys that experience and how that felt made me have goose bumps again. I don’t miss that house at all. Other things I remember is radios turning on or off, shadow/s moving in the corner of your eyes and stuff like that.

Some friends and I got talking about this the day we all went out to Villisca to see that house. I didn't sense anything there, but wouldn't dare go into that upstairs attic room where the killer allegedly hid. That room was the only place that creeped me out.

In Papio, there is the famed Zupan house just south of 6th street on Washington. I went to school with the girls that lived there when I was a kid and they would tell lots of stories about how they would rearrange the furniture and it would all be back the original location when they came down in the morning. It was a friendly ghost that liked things her way. Years later, a co-worker stopped there to collect a drivers license and was met by a kid in overalls at the door. The kid ignored him and shut the door in his face. He came back the next day and spoke to the lady that lived there and mentioned the kids behavior. She looked at him like he was crazy. She didn't have a son. Some research later found out an eight year old kid died there on the farm back in the 1800's. Strange coincidence.

Same co-worker lived at another house nearby with his sister and niece. His sister and niece lived in the basement of the old house. His niece would often talk about the "sad man" that she would talk to in the basement. Some quick research learned the original occupant of the house had killed himself by hanging himself in the basement. He was an abusive husband the locals called "Ham" due to his giant hands. His wife and kid went to church one Sunday morning and he went to the basement and hung himself. Probably just a weird coincidence.

Oh heck yeah, great topic. I don’t necessarily believe in ghosts, but like Mulder, I want to believe. When I was living in Scotland, a coworker was big into the occult and all that. He took me and a friend out to investigate a graveyard. Not sure which one in Edinburgh it was, but it’s the one with the dog ghost. He took us out and brought his ouiji board and a few other occult items. It was weird. We started to investigate by walking throughout the cemetery, but.... I chickened out.

They did the whole occult thing and whatnot, but I wasn’t having it and stayed behind around the graves and did some EVPs and didn’t catch anything. Yeah..

But for folks who dig the spooky and scary, check this out on Reddit. There’s some really good stories on here. I too am afraid a bit of being in a room at night where you can’t see out the window and someone’s lurking about:

When we were younger we were at a friends grandmas house one night and something freaky happened. They had three dogs who had to be put in the basement because they were always hyper and would jump on people. The house had this enclosed back porch that was never used. The door to the basement was on this porch and all these doors were locked and only used to go on the porch to get in to the deep freeze or in to the basement.

We were sitting in the kitchen one night and it sounded like someone opened and shut the basement door then ran down the stairs. We all shut up immediately because we were the only ones at the house. The dogs started barking so we went to check it out. All the doors were still locked and when we went in to the basement the three dogs were down there barking at the corner of the ceiling. Didn’t see anything so I don’t know what the hell was going on but it sure was strange..

Remember when Kuwaiti wanted to give U.S. service members 24k gold medals for their service in the protection of Kuwait?

We couldn't accept them because we are not a mercenary military.
