Planning on going Saturday w the wife & kid. Not big horse racing fans but always wanted to check it out as we’re 25 minutes away. A few questions:

1. get Tix ahead of time or buy at box office?

2. tailgating - assuming not allowed?

3. anything else of note we should do / see / etc ?

If you want clubhouse seats buy in advance. Tailgating is a odd question. If you want to hang by your car and eat and drink no one is going to stop you. Put up a table, or tent behind your car then you will have issues. Try the Blu Gratto in the parking lot. Great food. Beautiful place. Betting machines. Tons of TVs and a short walk to see live racing.

I was at Monmouth Park this past Sunday. I saw signs that it was $30.00 for

general admission the day of the Haskell. Can this be true?

Edit: I just googled it - $20.00 general admission and $ 30.00 for the Clubhouse.

Parking is $ 20.00

Major changes this year. My group of 16 bailed when they raised rear picnic Tix from 25 to 75 and banned your byob food and drink for their buffet and overpriced drinks. I’d have done the $20 GA but my group was soured. Too bad as it looks like a great field.

Tailgating probably a good call if you want to eat and drink your own. Come early for good spot.

Small field of seven but three were big names on this year’s Triple Crown trail. Mandaloun, Midnight Bourbon, Hot Rod Charlie.

Can we buy tickets the day of the event at the box office window? I like to have the physical ticket stub, and chances are if I buy them from Seat Geek, there won't be a Will Call option. Also, what time does the main race take place (Figuring 5-6 o'clock)?

If you are still allowed, walk to the rail at the top of the stretch for one of the races, preferably one with a larger field (8+ horses). The sound and power of the horses as they turn for home is awesome, getting goosebumps thinking about it.

My friends horse, Basso, is racing on Saturday as see above. They have another horse that is stabled here in Colts Neck named Jovia who was 3rd at Belmont in 2019-scratched from the Haskell which sucked.

I may be going but not sure yet.

I will be at the Big M Saturday night for a stakes laden card featuring the Meadowlands Pace, have only missed 3 since the first one I attended at 13 in 1983.

Wow that jockey got trampled. Horse looks fine but Paco Lopez the jockey took some hooves. Looks like Hot Rod Charlie cut the horse off.

Hot Rod Charlie drifted over and caused the other horse to stumble. Very alarming and scary situation for both horse and jockey!

Just read that Paco will ride tomorrow's races. Jockey's are a different breed of tough.

When my kids were young I owned some racehorses and one summer my short-for-his-age son said he wanted to be a jockey when he grew up. I was able to introduce him to a few jockeys and list their injuries history for him. That was the end of that dream.

lol no way you’re married and if you were you’re now divorced
Usually I’d pop off but it was hot AF and I don’t GAF about horse racing in general.

Did the dinosaur thing, which was predictably meh.

Gota Pick the battles - if she said no dice to football road trips w the boys and tailgating, we’d have serious issues.

Horse races, though better than dinosaurs, doesn’t move the needle for me

That's why she moved to leave. Knew you'd agree
