OT: Halftime Show

Thought it was the best I've seen in terms of appearance and production.

Football is by far the most American of any of the 4 major sports here - can't have the whole thing in spanish (taking out the random Lady Gaga appearance). Felt like the music was only ok - but again language barrier didn't help. I did like the end with all the flags and the theme of unity and love, but also felt way too political (which goes to my next point)

Deeply political performance - Keep politics out of sports! I don't care what your political persuasion is - we are obviously more divided than we've ever been, but sports is generally an escape to get away from all the noise - halftime show included.

In conclusion I hope the super bowl keeps going in the direction of the production value this halftime show had. Stay out of politics - don't have someone so divisive as the headliner and remember this is about sports & entertaiment - no more and no less!

I saw today that the sugar cane field they made was people in costumes. Making an intimate set was a pretty cool effect in a massive stadium. The photography, staging and choreography was fantastic. I enjoyed the music too.

It was actually a pretty shrewd move as the NFL contemplates putting a franchise in places like Mexico City over the next decade.

I hope you enjoy it. There are no words or lyrics in a ballet but the stories and messages are understood. I don’t think you’ll need to understand all the lyrics to appreciate yesterday’s performance.

There’s a deep history lesson with the sugar cane set up along with the bodegas, the power wires, and a few other sets. But I won’t get into it because the politics of the message would offend the ones who have their own CE Board to themselves.

Not only Bad Bunny broke Michael Jackson’s record of most watched Halftime Show, there has to be records broken for most watched Super Bowl in Puerto Bowl and other Latin American countries. The game is growing down there and getting more popular as American Football Leagues are starting to pop up in PR.

BTW, last night had the first Puerto Rican Born and Bred NFL Player to be in a Super Bowl, let alone win it: Center Francisco Maranges of Dorado, PR.

Jay-Z (drug dealer with multiple assaults/stabbings) picked the Bunny. The homely rapper also picked the Green Day band that is infamous for promoting anti-US militancy abroad. Band had to have "F__K America" deleted from show. The half-time show was 100% intended as a cigar being put out in America dinner. Rap is the lowest form of music (its just chant really) and that's why Bunny has a lot of "streams" on cheap/free internet sources. Music was better when ratings and reviews tracked with physical sales. Unfortunately a segment of American corporate culture is saturated with pandering and posturing. Goodell is one of its hit men.

I never liked Kid Rock rap either but the show had a cellist and violinist play and it was a pleasant surprise.

He has resisted the English language crossover siren that lured Shakira and others...her Spanish songs are way better.

He is a great representative for PR and an awesome artist.

For a country where 42% of people have a passport, it is wild to me that so few know PR is part of the US, you can get there without a passport and it has a TON to offer in terms of food, culture, music, sights, nightlife, beaches, parks, ambiance...and it's like a $200-300 RT nonstop flight from EWR...and gets overlooked.

Speaking more languages is also a no brainer. Being monolingual should not be a point of pride. We have no official language for a reason.

Some of us just have no ability to pick up a foreign language. It's one of the reasons we vacation in Jamaica...besides the ganja and the reggae music. It wouldn't matter anyway, as Bunny doesn't do the kind of music that I appreciate. I grew up on rock music...only good rock music...and have zero interest in most other music.
But I have a strange feeling that all of the uproar over this halftime show is about something far deeper and hateful than musical style. Something so predictable from a segment of the population. And so disappointing.

There's some "assumption" going on in this thread and those doing so should knock it the **** off...as a "middle-aged white male" who really doesn't like BB's music (don't hate it, just not what's on my "playlist" so-to-speak)....I actually, surprisingly, enjoyed his show...I was worried he'd make it political (Green Day, a bunch of white guys my age whose music I actually like, DID make it political of course....) BUT let's be honest he really didn't. Was there some "subtext," to the show? Sure, but he made VERY sure to throw out "I LOVE AMERICA" in English and directly into the camera. That, IMHO, was a "win-win" for everyone.

Never previously heard a Bad Bunny song in my life. Knew the guy just from movie and TV appearances. No idea what was supposedly divisive, before, during or after. Not like the guy hasn't been one of the biggest names in entertainment the past couple years.

Thought the overall presentation was great, music was fun and energetic. Agree it's clear that, just like every other halftime show the same dudes have complained about for the past 15 years, whole idea is to expand appeal of NFL and reach out to new demos. You're a given ...and have proven it by watching every one if those 15+ Super Bowls. Incidentally, the same reason to have a halftime show to begin with.

As for subtitles ...was that really gonna be helpful with someone singing so fast?
