Marrying a Tully isn't the same as marrying the King in the North. That's like marrying Loras Tyrell in stead of Jamie Lannister, Stannis Baratheon in stead of Rhegar Targaryan. The Twins have never been taken. He would have essentially lost the war before he made it to the trident. In a game he was already outnumbered 3-1 on.

The Freys will all get theirs before the first episode is over this season.

Just because the books are source material doesn't mean it should be the end all be all. He came up with good characters but his story can be improved upon. That's why season 6 was the best overall season. It's bc the show got beyond the books
