Beefsteak Charlies was also decent.

York and Beefsteak Charlie's had something of an affinity. When York Steakhouse employees would go out for a good dinner, we frequently went to BC's. More than a few York employees from the East Brunswick store went on to work at Beefsteak Charlie's.

You live in a world of make believe if you don’t realize these acts are more prevalent than ever before. It has absolutely nothing to do with what you or I see as “good deeds on a daily basis.” Keep believing that B.S. and when one day you happen to run into this type of behavior come back and tell me about how we must adjust our focus and perspective . Guarantee you’ll sing a much different song.

🤣

In that scenario, I'd be getting mine first since I like my steak still mooing. But if the cook were to overcook it, I'd be tossing tables and chairs, too. Far as I'm concerned, overcooking steak is one of the deadly sins.
In that scenario, I order my stake well done to kill whatever germs or bacteria that’s growing on the steak.

Eh, for every one of these incidents, there are many good deeds we see every day. This garbage just gets more attention. We just need to adjust our focus and perspective.
Its everywhere

Planes, stadiums, highways, restaurants, cruise ships, casinos, school meetings - everywhere
If you watched Jerry Springer in the 90s you could see all this coming

This again.

There are lots more people around today than back in the "good old days". So naturally there are more of all kinds of incidents between people.

However, one's individual experience with any such incidents would not, in any way, provide anything resembling proof that the "good old days" had fewer such incidents per 100K people than today. You'd need, you know, some actual verifiable data to prove your contention.

But you know what has provably changed very significantly since the "good old days"? Today, we have 24/7 media desperate for clickbait material. So, unlike the "good old days" when most people would never hear about most such stories that occurred, today we get to hear about everything everywhere if we're just willing to do a google search with the right keywords.

And data-collection on all kinds of crimes has improved drastically today, versus the "good old days". So the accuracy of data about such incidents today is far, far greater than it was back whenever.

You mean, the scenario where the beef is being flung to the floor or at one-another? The germs, in pretty much any scenario not leading to ground beef, only occur on the outside of the steak. So char the outside and leave the inside cold. It won't hurt you. 🙂

OTOH, I'm pretty sure it's not possible to cook mad cow out of beef. So that's always a risk, I suppose. One Christmas, when Britain was going through it's mad cow crisis and I was making the traditional beef wellington I make every year, I used excess pastry dough to write "MAD COW" on the outside of one of them. This really pissed off my mom who liked to cut the traditional holly leaf and berry shapes from the dough to adorn the wrapped beef.

So the next year, I wrote "EAT ME" and "BITE ME" on two of them with the dough. 😀

Lucky for me, mom has a strong sense of humor and high tolerance for my hijinks.

This again ? Yeah this again …if you don’t like the take tough sh#$t. This incident has nothing to do with the “ good old days” …maybe it’s the clientele has changed and the manners and colloquialisms which were common waaaay back when. There was always a certain element in all groups but what we ALL see if being honest is Philadelphia is slowly going to the bottom of the barrel. You enjoy it and pretend it’s only an illusion . The price you will pay someday will make you wish that perhaps not all is acceptable to the general public.

Keep looking for the negative you’ll always miss the positive. The stuff you mention will always get more attention and go viral. Rubbernecking on the BQE is all it is.

I couldn't help but notice that pretty much all the table and chair throwers were substantially out of shape. Perhaps they'd be better off spending less time at all-you-eat buffets and more time at salad bars, or a gym?
When was the last time you saw non fatties at an all you can eat buffet?

I see Waffle House over Denny’s mentioned more than once in the thread.

I find that to be…interesting.

Haven’t lived in the South since the late 90s, but there was a chain just like Waffle House, but not as many locations. Wish I could remember the name. I do remember one of my favorite chain restaurant names-Lizards Thicket !

There was a time when *stuff* like this would happen and no one would care because they'd never hear about it let alone see it.

Maybe we should EMP the world and start over with no smart phones nor social media.

Heaven maybe either Waffle King or Huddle House both are still around in Georgia. If I were forced to eat at one of those I’d chose Huddle House.

You do realize, right, that you're making up all kinds of stuff I never said and attributing it to me?

Manners and colloquialisms way back? Like back when cutting in line could get you shot by a cowboy with a six-gun in a tavern out west? Or even further back when cutting in line could get you stabbed with a sword by a knight in a tavern in Europe? Today they're tossing tables and chairs. Sure seems like tossing tables and chairs is better than getting shot or stabbed, so maybe things have improved a bit since the good old days, no?

It's really pretty simple. If 1 out of 1000 people were troublemakers 1000 years ago, and if there are many more 1000s of people around today, then there are gonna be many more troublemakers than there were 1000 years ago.

That's all that's changed. People are people. Human nature's been pretty constant, not evolving very much since we lived in caves. But population growth, in particular population density, has forced the need to build societies and adopt a rule of law. And that has tamped down on some of human's more problematic tendencies some.

But there's always gonna be that 1 in a 1000 that's a trouble-maker.

You can point to Philly and say it's a problem because there's so much more violent crime than 100 years ago. That would be true.

But you can also point to Philly today and say there are so vastly more people, who never commit any violent crimes their entire lives, than there were 100 years ago. That would also be true.

You seem to focused entirely on the former truth while entirely ignoring the latter truth.

I haven't gone to an all-you-eat Sunday brunch in a while, but the last time I did, there were plenty of fit folks there.

But you're right and I'm just being argumentative. Places like the Golden Corral surely attract a ton (no pun intended) of unhealthily overweight individuals.

It's also important to note that combined with 24/7 media looking for clickbait material is the fact that everyone has a camera on them now, so in the past many of these incidents were not on video and there wasn't an internet that craved and supplied infinite content. If it didn't make the news, we didn't know about it.

Why aren't they wearing masks? That should be the main concern for safety not chair throwing. This is tame compared to the Johnny Rocket in Florida naked ketchup girl video . Ooofffaaa.
