Basically going three players for one and getting out of that contract. Whether the deal is good or not will come down to how the Giants do with the picks.

If Pitt only got a 3 and a 5 for AB then Gettlemen did pretty good getting a 1, a 3 and Peppers.
AB is 5 years older than OBJ and was in his walk year and alienated himself from his entire team. Seriously, think before you post.

1. The contract wasn't a burden. The NFL salary cap goes up over $10mil each year.

Also, looks like Giants are stuck with 16mil in dead cap money.

2. Yes, Giants need defense and OL help. And now they also need WR help. Nothing helps the growth of a young QB like a ****** WR group.

3. The Browns drafted a young QB high in the draft and are now adding an elite WR to help him develop. The Chiefs drafted a young QB high in the draft and kept his elite WR around to help him develop.

Seems like a plan the Giants should follow.....oh wait....

4. Hmmm....young developing QB, very good RB, but no playmakers at WR thus allowing the defense to sell out and stop the run.
Rutgers fans have seen firsthand how well that works out.

Heck. Got a 1st, 3rd and Peppers. Gittleman does not like me first players. Actually a pretty good haul

Sorry, can't stand Peppers - thought he was a hot dog in college. Never felt like that about Barkley and have always respected how he at least hasn't trash talked about his RU verbal (that I know of) and simply just plays the game. As I've said since he was at PSU, if he stays healthy, he'll end up being a top 5 all-time RB. He's just that good. Not a Giants fan, but I'd rather the local teams be good than bad, since they're on TV all the time - I actually like Eli, but it's probably time for a mobile QB...

Gwttleman seems to be flip flopping a lot in his first year and a half. Not impressed.

I cant wait until the Giants trade #6 and #17 to the Jets for #3 to draft Haskins, give him zero receivers to throw to, and run it on every first down.

"Pro-Stlye Offense" here we come!

AB: Team almost makes the playoffs.
After dealing with Bell drama all year. Quits on team in offseason and demands a trade.

OBJ: Gets mad and vocal at managment for not making the difficult decisions to improve the roster (QB) and the team keeps losing year after year.

Not really close as to who is the better locker room presense.

Didn't AB literally quit on his team a month ago and demand a trade?
I am not a Steelers fan and don't follow them too closely, but since both top offensive stars gave the front office the finger, perhaps it wasn't only their problem.

Looks like he had a dispiute with Big Ben the Wed before Week 17 and quit the rest of the season.

Skipped workouts, walkthroughs and practices leading up to the game - a game Pitt needed to win to get into the playoffs. Was deactivated for the game and then left the stadium at halftime.

"NFL Network reported that some Steelers players were frustrated that Tomlin did not address the situation with the team on Monday during their exit interviews and final team meeting of the season."

As an Eagle fan, I LOVE this trade. A guy that was absolutely uncoverable is out of the division. A S with 1 pick in 2 years, a late 3rd and a mid 1st for an all time talent. Ha. To have this work you need all time coaching which the Giants DO NOT have.

Horrific trade by the Giants who will be cellar-dwellers for some time. Thank you Dave Gettleman!

You think a young QB could developed with an obj cancer type player? You are crazy. ..

Good move. Get some depth, find a qb, ride the RB

I'm gonna call it now, this will ruin the browns..

I've mostly heard Giants fans complaining what a distraction OBJ is and how they lost in the playoffs because he took some teammates on a boat ride in Miami during the 2016 playoffs.

Now all I'm hearing is how trading him is the worst thing ever.

The Giants went 5-11 with OBJ on the team last year. I think it's fair to say they can go 5-11 without him.

1. Those fans were ridiculous. I'm assuming most of those fans also think Eli should still be a starting QB.

2. Trade Saquan?
I mean the team went 5-11 with him so its fair to say they can go 5-11 without him.

You think a QB could develop without an elite WR already on the roster?
Or with no receivers the defense has to account for?

"Ride the RB"

Good lord. Rutgers and Giants - two peas in the same failing offensive pod.

I spent way too much time reading various NFL articles today and I haven't seen one writer, other then Francessa, that likes this move for the Giants. Even if you like this trade you'd have to be concerned with the inconsistencies that Gettleman has shown.

For the Beckham is a bad teammate crowd, Geoff Schwartz says he's not a locker room cancer

Maybe loved in the locker room by his friends who he is out partying with but definitely a distraction to coaches and front office....

From Giants fans ive been around the last couple years, ive noticed that older fans (40s and up) cant stand the guy and would rather have him gone and younger (20s early 30s) like his goofball antics and want his fantasy points....

Sure they are giving up a superstar talent, but if the picks work out and peppers reaches his potential it could be a good trade.... its usually better to cut that persona loose...i think 9 out of 10 would take a lesser talent that is a grinder and keeps his nose clean then a superstar diva...and beckham is an elite diva like TO and ochocinco

Giants fan here. I've said it for years that teams with prominent personalities like obj don't win superbowls. I never expected him to get one as a giant, and don't expect him to get one as a brown. The giants suddenly became good after shockey and tiki left. The pats abhor big personalities. The Steelers couldn't win one with AB and LB. The eagles, though, won with lunch pail files.

I've wanted him off the team for this reason for a while. It's fun watching when the spectacular, and that will be missed. This deal is about setting the groundwork for eventually reaching team goals.

Was obj leading the giants to a playoff run in 2019 w eli? In 2020 with a rookie? Blink and hes 28 years old, even less durable, and even more tired. This was the best value you're ever going to get for him. Trade had to be done.
