He did have that nifty little behind the back pass to Durcack but yes for the most part he gets the ball and goes. Although he may have been the second best player at creating his own shot, without Ace, so I don't hate it as much as when Cliff did it.

It's totally different because Lathan's shots have all been high percentage (partially because he's the one taking the shot). Cliff was getting fed in the post and then taking his time to set up a move that rarely worked. Griffiths was getting the ball on the perimeter and then charging into the teeth of the D for, more often than not, a turnover or bad shot.
In fairness - it’s not like we struggled with the St Peters types teams last year. We need to see how effective Latham can be against real competition.

We almost lost to Stonehill, which was probably the worst D1 team in country last year . . .
It was something even worse than shameful, they only fielded 6 scholarship players against us.
Ok - yes we had a game like that and Bryant was reasonably close. Specifically - we blew out the St Peters team we just played. And in that particular game, Cliff came up huge. It’s the closest to apples to apples that we have right now.
And 3 years ago we lost to Lafayette, UMass and DePaul. Pike’s teams have often started slow and underperformed against bad teams.
Speaking of results that don't have much credibility, it's encouraging to see that Sommerville played better against Wagner than Ejiofor did. Ejiofor was an absolute force in the scrimmage.
Don't think they even started him against Wagner. He's basically been Ogbole, who played him to a standstill, since the scrimmage.
Yeah for some reason him and RIchmond didn't start but ended up playing starter minutes
Well we are comparing Lathan to Griffiths and Cliff. I think those two struggled (scoring) against all the teams right?
too early to declare Hayes an upgrade. Hardly played in the second half of a close game against SP the other night and with Bailey added to the mix he’ll play even less.
At this point we only have good evidence of how the 2 returning players will fare in the Big10 games
Can't be anything but super happy about Lathan so far, but it's still TBD if he can do this against B1G level competition
He isn't an explosive leaper who plays abive the rim, doesnt have elite size, and lost a ton of weight which is a good thing but won't help with some of the bully type moves he's used on smaller bigs so far
It might take some time for him to adjust and learn to score when he faces better competition. Hopefully not, but it wouldn't be surprising if we saw him struggle a bit depending on the matchup
Starting to be a bit concerned expectations are getting too high and hope the board is patient and doesn't turn on him if that is the case
Yup, I said thus far. No idea how it will play out, but keeping an eye on it.
Edit to this - I hadn't realized it, but thus far, GG and PJ have played within two minutes of each other. PJ has outscored him by two, on fewer shots, but GG has the same # of rebounds and more assists, steals, and blocks.

Not comparing apples to apples. GG would not see as much court time if he was on this Rutgers roster. He's getting those minutes on a suspect Nebraska team. Anyway, PJ is playing within himself and the team. Clearly, you can see if PJ is better defensively and natural scoring touch. GG hasn't shown the ability to be successful at the college level consistently.
I watched the entire Nebraska-St. Mary’s game. Nebraska sure does have some corn-fed big boys, but a couple of them give the appearance of middle-aged players in a men’s rec league. And that’s with Mast sitting out the season due to injury.
Gavin might have been the first player off the bench in the first half and quickly got burned twice and took a seat. He got a couple of minutes in the 2nd half and kind of bricked a wide open three.
Nebraska is pretty deep at guard and wing and if he doesn’t pick it up, I could see him getting buried. He didn’t build his body up at all and looked as frail as last year. I understand he got $ and I know he’s coming off a wrist injury but I’m not so sure Nebraska is a better fit for him.

I watched that game too. GG might not see time with Rutgers this year had he stayed. Not impressed with Nebraska at all. Can't shoot especially the 3-ball. I know you said they have depth at the guard and wing, but that doesn't mean quality play from that position. This may be their weakest team in years.
I think your stats were not apples to apples. At the time of your post Nebraska had played 3 games and RU had played 2 games: So total minutes (and therefore totals of any counting stats as well) are irrelevant. I am not convinced you were accurate anyway, even with that irrelevant comparison.
BUT ... as of this afternoon: After Nebraska's 4 games (recent loss to St. Mary's included), and RU's win over Monmouth - again, reminder, GG has 4 games and Hayes just 3 games:
Total Minutes: Hayes 70 (in 3 games), GG 64 (in 4 games)
Minutes per game: Hayes 23.3, GG 14
Points: Hayes 28, GG 15
Points per game: Hayes 9.3, GG 3.8
Rebounds: Hayes 14, GG 10
Reb per game: Hayes 4.7, GG 2.5
3-point FG: Hayes 6, GG 3
3-point FG%: Hayes 54.5%, GG 25%
Overall FG%: Hayes 60%, GG 40%
Assists per game: Hayes 2.0, GG 1.3
Just saying ... no comparison.
Bottom line, though we are not certain it is sustainable, or that Hayes can do the same against higher level competition, Hayes is playing EXACTLY the material role RU wants and needs from him, at the efficiency and quality RU wanted and needed ... and Griffiths did NOT do so last year - and Griffiths is not playing a material role THIS season for Nebraska.
This is exactly what I predicted pre-season: Griffiths would have a problem finding minutes at the Wing given the construction of Nebraska's roster - a TON of WF and 2G's, many of whom had better college performances under their belts than did Griffiths.
And ... if their WF's and 2G's are not that good, and Griffiths is STILL only getting spot playing time ... what does that say about Nebraska's coaching staff's view of his role?
I knew we were in trouble when I was about to spend a few thousand dollars on a Gavin Griffin promo in the student section for my real estate company and got word through my R Fund rep via the coaching staff that it might be a little too soon and maybe in a year or two we could do it. He was a 5 star at one point...
He was soft as charmin. The eyes told me he wasn’t near ready. Maybe he becomes a good player at some point. The fans dazzled by the rankings and blaming pike were too funny.
Watched Neb lose to St Mary’s today, saw the second half, Gavin didn’t get a lot of minutes and he looked lost on the floor, don’t understand how a high 4 star could be so ineffective . Looks like he has actually lost some weight rail thin.
Next stop for GG - Central Connecticut State University. Does anyone know if pops has been visiting the Nebraska boards?
He's game for another transfer. I was thinking more along the lines of Quinnipiac.
He'd still be here if he agreed with the way Pike planned to use him this season. He didn't like it so he said adios.
Folks including myself were so sure that he was going to be an impact player as a frosh and potential superstar after that.
