Finally giving in and getting a gas grill. Just need something a little bit faster and low hassle on Weeknights than the Egg. Was debating getting flat top grill, but I already have enough of a griddle on my stove that I think that would be less useful than just having a gas grill. Don't need anything fancy. Just want to be able to turn on grill with no fuss and hit primarily hamburgers and chicken breasts. Will probably still use the egg for anything big enough to be smoked. What's a good value that is reliable and isn't going to rust out or fall apart after one year?

I have a Weber spirit for the exact purposes you mentioned. Weekday cooking that needs to be quick. I’ve had it for 3 years or so. No complaints

Plus one more on the Weber Spirit. Only small grill that doesn't catch everything on fire. I have a Traeger for the heavy lifting.

I love the weber Q series. They are cast aluminum so no rust. The grills are cast iron, so they never pop rods, rust through, etc. And they get HOT. Very easy on gas with stainless burners. I've had mine sitting on my porch for 20 years and every now and then I just powerwash it when I have the washer out, looks as good as the day I bought it. I use it for exactly what you're talking about - come home, turn it on, rub some chicken breasts or burgers, boom they done. I take it with me tailgating because you can use the little propane tanks with it.

I have a Weber Genesis because I live with salt air. When we brought our charbroil from South Carolina it disintegrated in 2 years. I have had the Weber for 9 years without a single problem. I’ve had to replace the flavorizer bars and the battery for the ignition (AA) that’s it.

It doesn't matter. Just turn in your man card and let your wife choose!

I need to replace the flavor bars in mine now. Did you get them at Home Depot or Lowe’s? I see Amazon has some that I think will fit it.

gas grill = squatting to pee. Just get a weber kettle.

Nah… the gas grill certainly has its uses. When I’m just cooking hot dogs or a couple chicken breast for my wife to cut up and put in some dish she’s cooking, it’s nice to have the grill ready in less than 5 minutes. I would imagine hot dogs, deer sausage or chicken breast during a weekday make up 99% of what mine has been used for.

Agreed. Cooking a some dogs, a couple burgers, and some Conecuh in 10 minutes is pretty nice.

Lil Butcher Shoppe out of Hattiesburg is better. Fight me.
Bought some good 3 Cheese sausage at Shady Acres in H'burg the other day. Really good stuff, wish I could remember the name (duh, it was Lil Butcher Shop). And didn't chip a tooth, like when eating Country Pleasin'!

Think about a pellet, mine gets up to about 475F and can sear a steak as well as smoke a butt

On Amazon they sell Stainless Steel Monument grills. My daughter lives on the (salt)water in Cape Coral and 4 years ago was looking for a grill for their back yard. We took a chance on the Monument grill and it has not weathered at all. 4 + 1 side burners go for $350 range and they have a bunch of other layouts up to $450.

17 that. For the longest time had a kettle grill just because of tradition.

Weber Spirit 310 for all grilling and half of smoking.
Weber Bullet for the other half of smoking.

It's exponentially more convenient and quick smoke like a couple roasters is great on the Spirit 310 too. I grill 5x more often now.

I enjoy charcoal grilling but for someone busy like me I like the convenience of a gas grill. I can come home and have something grilling in just a couple of minutes.

I have a natural gas Weber Spirit, my second one. Gas grills are underrated. The convenience and control factors tip
them in my favor. No matter what you do, Weber is where it's at, no problem with getting parts.

I have a Broilmaster (propane) that I've had for years. I use it for grilling/searing vegetables and certain meats and poultry that don't have a lot of fat content. Pluses: High quality ,convenient, portable, good back up cooking in a power outage. Minuses: Expensive purchase price and a ***** to clean up. I do 90% of my grilling on my Weber Kettle.

I second the pellet opinion. Get a reteq, you can fire it up from your phone and have it ready to cook the second you get home.

I’ll go one step further for a recommendation. You want a weekday workhorse get a bullseye. Got it for my “wife”. I use it more than any other grill or smoker I have. I’ve gotten up to 750 deg in less than 15 minutes.

Found a used 8 year old Weber for $200. 5 years ago and still like new.

I did the same thing, just had to replace the flavorizer bars when I bought it. I thought I was buying a long-term grill but after using my Blackstone for the past few months, I went back to the Weber last week to cook some burgers and the damn door to the gas compartment fell off. Apparently it has rusted through.

Greenbean just likes to be the internet tough guy sometimes. A Weber kettle would be a lesser version of what Johnson already has... No time savings.

Johnson, I would just buy a lower cost infrared gas grill. Heats up way faster. Cleans up easier. And doesn't dry out chicken as fast. No flare ups. I assume you are still going to cook your steaks, ribs, and everything else on the Egg if you want a char. Infrared grills are up to temp in 5 minutes vs 15-20 for regular gas grill and you don't have to close the lid.

They also get super hot. 800+ degrees. You could smoke a tri tip for an hour on your egg at 250 and then immediately sear it on the IR grill. Researched this myself. Gas grill doesn't compliment my Kamado Joe near as well as IR as it cooks in a similar manor and doesn't get up to temp much faster.

+1 for the Weber Genesis. I got it about 8 years ago, and it’s built to last. I considered handing it down to someone after I got my RT-700 last year, but I quickly realized that those two are an awesome combo.

I hope for as much as a badass as greenbean is that he chops down his own trees and makes his own charcoal, anything less would be extremely disappointing. Im actually kinda shocked a pit master such as greenbean would even purchase something someone else made. Make your own grill big man.

I'm available for lessons in all the manly arts, not just cooking with fire. I can teach you to hunt, fish, shoot, operate heavy equipment, run a chainsaw, split firewood, gamble, fight, drink, chew redman, smoke filterless marlboros, back a trailer (youtube offered me my own trailer backing channel), anything a man should be able to do I'll train up in a few lessons of $200/quarter hour. Advanced lessons include (but not limited to) how to pick up women (I pull more tail than a special needs class at a petting zoo).

Country Pleasin' is the official sausage of MSU, Mississippi and red blooded Americans.

Our grocery store got in some Bryant's Smoked sausage, made in Taylorsville last week. Best link sausage I have had since Bryan Brothers sold out to Sara Lee.

100% pure pork sausage.
