I fish out in Long Island all the time and its so picky now. I would frequently come back from a couple of hours with a couple of keepers, have a great dinner and some left over fish sandwiches. Last year my son and I had two keepers all year. Same for the year before...
The commercial draggers are brutal. I know these guys are working for a living, but something needs to be done. They drag, bring up 15,000 pounds of fish, keep their allotted 5,000 pounds, then dump back 10,000 of dead fish. My numbers may be off, but you get the point.
Any by the way, sea robin isn't really that bad. Bit of a pain in the *** to clean, with less return on it, but the meat is tasty.
