OT: Extra grocery bags

Over the past few years I have always put my extra grocery bags in a kitchen cabinet, typically used for picking up dog crap. Today when I got home after doing some food shopping, I realized I had a ridiculous amount of bags in the kitchen. Should people just throw them away when they have too many, or find a place to stash the extras to ensure that they never run out?

Weis in Hillsborough has a bin by its entrance to recycle old bags. I just reuse them for various things at my job.

You can recycle them at many stores -- grocery stores, Lowes, Home Depot, Staples...My town will give you a canvas reusable bag for every 20 plastic bags you bring in to boro hall.

Seriously, though, I have the same problem. I buy stuff way faster than the dog poops. No sense in hoarding more.

I can just throw them in the recycling bin, but if i had to bring them somewhere, I'd probably just throw them all out until I started running low.

The Morton Williams supermarket on my corner has a bin for dropping off plastic bags to be recycled. Some extra bags i use to bring lunch to work, the others I just drop off on my way out.

I just burn both the plastic and paper ones in my in my fireplace when it gets colder. Saves me from leaving the house in the cold and keeps me warmer inside.

Two birds with one stone!

I've had the same couple of huge canvas bags for 25+ years, so I almost never use store bags. In addition to being much better environmentally, it's simply a lot easier, as I hate those friggin' plastic bag dispensers and I only need 1 or 2 bags instead of the 7-10 little plastic bags I see tons of people using (and some use double bags, which looks like a pain in the ***).

There are still people who haven't bought reusable grocery bags? C'mon, they cost like $1 each.

Seriously. And they're given away for free at almost every local festival or corporate event. I have a couple dozen and didn't have to buy them.

Food pantries can often use those plastic bags. You can check if one local to you will take them.

Every ShopRite has a bin outside or somewhere near the entrance to collect the plastic bags. Just start a collection at home and when it gets large, drop them off.

Wait, what? Use them for dog poops? Am I the only one who seems to get the bags with at least a tiny hole or two in them?

To be honest, I keep my extras locked up next to my guns and ammo so Hillary can't take 'em.

I use mine for dog poop, trash cans, and the occasional packed lunch.

DC has charged 5 cents for disposable bags from stores that sell food for the past 6 years.

Since one does not wish to contaminate the Earth for ever by having them buried by the trash collectors,I would suggest burning them.

Put them in your car, drive 2 miles from your home, stop car, get out with bags in hand, place bags on top of car, get into car and drive really fast down the road while observing the mess you are making in your rearview mirror. Go home and have a beer while watching the final round of the PGA.

Can't believe nobody mentioned how useful they are as sex toys. Although yeah, you have to use between 10-15 at a time, so...
