One of Elvis‘s best songs is “Mystery Train”which is a cover of the Junior Parker song. One of my favorite versions was done by The Band. Here is The Band playing with Paul Butterfield doing Mystery Train:

While Elvis was a fantastic musical talent/singer/performer, he never actually wrote any songs, so I struggle with the concept of "Elvis covers."

Good guess but not it. Not singing a CW era song, but using the melody from a CW song with different words.
OK, looks like no one is that interested: song was Love Me Tender to the tune of CW era song Aura Lee

tbf.... elvis sung hundreds of gospel songs... about 1/3 were pre-CW.....

yes, love me tender's melody was from the 19th century - which made it interesting for a pop song... then again, LedZep stole everyone of their songs from early 20th Century blues singers...
