Now thinking you didn't watch the game.

If your so proud of Hurts and how great he played - is he better than Daniel Jones?
As a Giants fan, game was encouraging at least in that the Hurts-lovefest can end.

It doesn't seem to be ending in Philly. They are all in on Hurts and trading Wentz. LOL

Take away a draft pick or make Eagles play most difficult schedule for that nonsense. Have to be penalized.

Integrity of the game!

And with all the concern regarding gambling, how can the NFL not address this??? No different than fixing games.

Please, in terms of the integrity of the game and gambling concerns, this wasn't even the worst game. Go look at the Vikings/Lions officiating for integrity of the game and gambling concerns.

The other thing about this whole debate is many on here complaining about tanking were advocating that it would be better for RU to lose at the end of the Flood and Ash eras so they would be fired and we could start the process of getting a new coach. I said at the time that I understood the reasoning but it is tough to root for your favorite team to lose.

But are those people the same ones complaining about inserting Sudfield? For at least one, me, that's not the case.

Which is crazy to think about because he also ranks as one of the best GMs at picking 5th-7th rounders. Shows how terrible rounds 1-4 go.

IMHO his problem is that he's always trying to show everyone how smart he is. Doing things like passing on early mostly sure things to select more risky players so he can say he knows better. Sadly he doesn't. Maybe in the later rounds that's not a bad idea since many of them are already gambles.

This thread is pure comedy. "Integrity of the game" LOL.

This is worst division in NFL history. All you had to do was go 7-9 and you would win it. Giants couldn't do it and a team with no name did. Football Team goes to playoffs!

That Giants game yesterday was just as bad as the game last night. All four of these teams are terrible. Giants fans are whiners.

I'd be fine if the NFL had a rule that required AT LEAST a .500 record to make the playoffs. If I still watched it.

All of which has zero to do with the topic at hand.
Feel free to start a thread on how bad the NFC East is.... we will all agree

You have a point. It would be similar to bowl eligibility. Just slot a team with a better record into the spot.

This thread is called Let's Go Eagles, not Doug Pederson tanking. Try to stay on topic.
True.
I probably should have started the Pederson tanking thread separately
I’ve rooted for rival teams dozens of times in my life to help my team

Giants should have never placed themselves where they have to count on Eagles to get them into playoffs.

Look a draft pick is more important to them then getting Giants into a playoff.

Eagles did the right thing by letting Washington Swamps win.

A 7-9 team making the playoffs hurts the integrity of the game more than anything the Eagles could do.

Really? Who was the last nhl to make the playoffs with a 0.375 winning percentage?
24/31 teams made the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year, so since the Giants were 11th in the NFC, they would have made the playoffs under NHL rules.

A bit different. NHL played a shortened season due to the COVID stoppage. NFL played a full 16 game season

Last night was on the same level as the astro's cheating scandal and the Black Sox scandal. That game was 100% fixed by the eagles organization. And the only way to properly penalize a team for such an egregious error, something so unbelievably disarespectful to the rest of the league is to penalize them the draft pick they were so desperate to lose for. Take away the Eagles first round pick this year, shoot they should take their next 3 first rounders after last night. Purposely doig everything you could to lose, it's inexcusable. And it 100% disrespects the integrity of the game. Last night I watched nothing more than a WWE royal rumble. It involved lots of big bodies being thrown around but the outcome was predetermined before the game started. Inexcusable. Take away the draft pick from that cesspool of an organization. And let the record show I am the furthest thing from a Giants or Eagles fan. I hate both teams as a Cowboys fan, if there's one positive for me its seeing giants fans lose their minds, lol.

which is exactly why Goodell needs to step in and make a statement that making the decision to tank mid game will not be tolerated. The only real justice for this is simply take away the eagles first round pick. Send a message.

Exactly, the honorable thing to do is tank pre-game by sitting healthy starters like multiple other teams did.....

Despite Shaughnessy’s demand for Goodell to punish Pederson and the Eagles, there’s a good chance the NFL will do nothing. Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero:

The NFL’s longstanding position has been that it’s solely the club’s decision regarding who to play, for now long, etc. So while the circumstances (Sunday) are unique, the #Eagles aren’t the first team to play backups in Week 17, and the league historically hasn’t gotten involved.

Such made up hysteria from the media to drum up this non-issue. It's hysterical that it's ok for playoff teams to pull players or start scrubs in their games, it's ok to mock teams for winning a game when you say all season long that they should be losing for the #1 pick, but it's an absolute outrage to not give 110% effort to help your division rival get into the playoffs when it will directly hurt your own team the following year.

NFL needs to investigate the Steelers.
If they won against the Browns, Miami would have made the playoffs and the Browns would have been eliminated

They sat Roethlisberger!
Mason Rudolph started and they even put in Josh Dobbs at QB on their last drive on some plays!

Why wouldn't they play their best players and try to knock out a division rival?

Miami got screwed. Fire Tomlin and take away Steelers draft picks!

It sucks to be a Giants fan but all of this talk about penalizing the Eagles and integrity of the game stuff is absurd. Eagles did what's best for them. Period. All teams should and do do that. Period. See Steelers example above.

What the NFL should do, however, is modify the approach for determining draft order. It should be based on losing percentage but at the time a team is eliminated from the playoffs. Or based on standings after Week 14 or 15 or something like that. That's really the only way to remove the tanking incentive and it's kinda silly that 3-5 spot swings can occur from meaningless games.

what they should simply do is get rid of automatic home games for division champs. Its fine if your division happened to be ****** that season, you still won it. Welcome to the 6th or 7th seed.

Been too often where the second best record in the conference, often in the entire league, ends up playing against a terrible division champ just because the best team in the league won the division. Winning a division should get you a playoff berth. After that it should be seeded by record.

either way they would be ‘helping’ a division rival. What I can’t get past is how do you pull a rookie qb who you are evaluating to see if you are comfortable going into next year with making his 4th ever start and pull him in the 3rd quarter of a 3 point game... then flat out lied and say ‘I was trying to win’... psshhhh. Doug lost all respect of that locker room Sunday night. The Eagles are so screwed for years

Apparently the Eagles players were very angry, two defensive players had to be held back from confronting Pederson after the game.

I think he could lose his job over this, as an GM or owner you have to be very concerned when your head coach loses the locker room like this.

And has a Super Bowl winning coach ever crashed so quickly? When Eagles won it I honestly had Pederson up there with the elite coaches in the league, I really thought he had the "It factor".

Loss his job?? He will get a raise. Its apparent the Eagles are starting a rebuild. Wentz, Ertz and Kelce all appear to have played their last game for the Eagles.
Pederson isn't a good HC. Frank Reich was the reason they won the Super Bowl.

We'll see if this story has legs, before I read about the players being upset I didn't think he would be in danger, but you can't lose the locker room, its over for every coach that does.

And yes, I now know he's not a good head coach, hence me saying "thought".

Apparently it's not a non-issue with his players, if his players were fine with it, you might be right, but now news is coming out that his team took major umbrage with his pulling Hurts, so now its an issue.
