I remember the Phillies parade with how so many people could not even make it down there for the parade because there was simply too many people for the train system to handle. Just saving this place for the inevitable complaints about not getting to the parade on Thursday.

Avoid SEPTA....and start walking now??

In all seriousness, I suppose they'll run more trains but if the Phillies parade maxed the system, unless they have a plan up their sleeve for an even greater ridership demand scenario, it'll likely be another cluster for the Eagles parade.

Myself and a group of friends cut school to attend the Phillies parade in 1980.
Took the 8 AM bus to market street. Walked to Broad St. / City hall. Took the subway to the Vet and walked to JFK (the parade end site) where we secured front row seats for the festivities. Walked with the mass of humanity all the way back to City Hall and Market St. afterward.
Great day!

Unfortunately, we had a large bedsheet / banner that read "Woodbury loves the Phillies!". That got us on the front page of the Gloucester County Times the next day, where our vice-principal couldn't ignore it.. In-school suspension for all of us. Still well worth it!

Parade event has potential to be a real sh*tshow in Philly. Good idea to start the parade at 11am near Lincoln Field.

I’m thinking St Patrick’s Day on steroids in Philly that day.

I dont see it as a problem at all. Just like the Phillies parade there should be no major issues. Reading the other B.S. on this thread has me laughing.

For anyone seriously thinking of going I would recommend heading out in the wee hours of the morning or driving into the city somewhere on the outskirts of the parade, parking and walking where you plan to watch it (either at the Linc or somewhere along Broad).

Mass transit is going to be a complete cluster. Especially if you're coming from South Jersey as Patco only handles around 40K people on a weekday and will dump you right into a sea of thousands of people.

Unlike the Phillies parade two things will be improved with this one to keep things under control.
First its going to be cold unlike the Phillies parade when it was spectacular drinking weather and people had no problem standing around for hours.
Second. The parade is finishing up tge Ben Franklin Parkway where it can fit massive amounts of people like the Pope and the NFL Draft.

Just my opinion, but I doubt both of these to levels. First, the weather won’t deter people from hanging out for hours getting bombed - case in point, the Mummers Parade. Second, BFP is big but I have been there for large outdoor concerts that were jammed and out of control at times. This is the first Super Bowl win and the first football championship in nearly 60 years. This ain’t the Pope! I think you somewhat underestimate the Philly spirit...

Having lived in the area for 30 years, including 15 years right next to the Art Museum - 27th and Pennsylvania, I'm very aware of the Philly spirit.
You must be kidding about the Mummers Parade, right? The Mummers attendance is awful. Declining dramatically since I moved here, so much that the route has changed and shortened. Nobody shows up anymore. Nobody sits out for hours. Concerts at the Art Museum are "jammed" as the space they use is just around Eakins Oval not the entire length of BFP.
Plus my point about the Ben Franklin Parkway is that it can handle massive amounts of people comfortably. Unlike Broad Street or even Broadway in NYC there is a limit to how many people can squeeze onto the sidewalks. Not so for the BFP.
Bud Light will be giving out free beer along the parade route. What could possibly go wrong?
Only partiality true. Bud Light will not be "giving out" free beer. About 14 bars/restaurants along the parade route will be serving free Bud Light. Good luck getting into these places and you better bring your ID as everyone will be carded.

WTF with the free beer??? Are they insane? I hope this is televised in my area so I can grab some popcorn and watch this show.

Maybe you should read the post above yours before you grab you popcorn.

And it's 1 free beer.

Not sure why they didn't have the parade end at the stadium instead of starting it there. Logistically speaking it would have been a lot easier. They are anticipating anywhere from 2-3 MILLION PEOPLE along the parade route. I'm envisioning all the people at the start of the parade and along the way following the parade to BFP, basically creating a disaster if you decide to drive anywhere near Philly that day.

Should make for an interesting day.

The SEPTA trains will make The Hunt trains look like amateur hour especially coming out of the city. No chance in hell I’d take them.

Don’t underestimate the number of young people drinking on the trains coming into the city in the AM. Not exactly going out on a limb when I say that some will not be alert enough to see the parade. Bars opening early that day? If I was a cop I’d want to take the day off, especially if working the late shifts.

For Eagle fans in Central/North Jersey, One expensive mass transit solution would be taking Amtrak into 30th (from Newark, metro park, Trenton) . Volume wont be as high vs. PATCO and Septa from PA 'burbs.

Unlike NJT and NY Transit drinking isnt allowed on SEPTA. In fact what is allowed food and drink wise is very limited.

Have fun trying to enforce that one SEPTA.
Its really easy to enforce. Don't let them on with beer. They have to pass conductors and Police to board the train. Some may hide a can or two but no one is getting on with a 30 pack.

Can I just get on NJ transit in NB, GO to Trenton, and then take the SEPTA regional line to Suburban Station?

The way I read the earlier posts, it seems there is a possibility you may get jammed up using Septa from Trenton. Newark on Amtrak would take you straight in.

$118 plus train to Newark and tubers to and from parade route. Doesn't sound like a viable option.

Suburban station is closed for the parade. Nj transit from Trenton to 30th street station should be open

Getting off at Jefferson is a shorter walk to Broad Street. And you can get something great to eat at the Reading Terminal Market, right across from Jefferson.

Just found info. They're only running 4 trains out of Trenton. First one around 5 am, last one around 7. Tickets must be bought in advance. I'm guessing they're sold out.
Plan B...drive to Parx, uber from there.
