Sure. Whatever. But reality proves otherwise and there's no debating these facts, even if it is being reported by the 'failing' NYT:

"The Trump administration, in a significant escalation of its clash with the government’s top ethics watchdog, has moved to block an effort to disclose any ethics waivers granted to former lobbyists who have work in the White House or federal agencies.

The latest conflict came in recent days when the White House, in a highly unusual move, sent a letter to Walter M. Shaub Jr., the head of the Office of Government Ethics, asking him to withdraw a request he had sent to every federal agency for copies of the waivers. In the letter, the administration challenged his legal authority to demand the information.

Dozens of former lobbyists and industry lawyers are working in the Trump administration, which has hired them at a much higher rate than the previous administration. Keeping the waivers confidential would make it impossible to know whether any such officials are violating federal ethics rules or have been given a pass to ignore them.

Mr. Shaub, who is in the final year of a five-year term after being appointed by President Barack Obama, said he had no intention of backing down. “It is an extraordinary thing,” Mr. Shaub said of the White House request. “I have never seen anything like it.”"

Trump never said he was going to drain the swamp. That was the dishonest media led by the failing NYT putting words in his mouth as usual. If Trump HAD said this, he would have done it!

btw at this point in his Presidency can anyone hardly blame him for getting as many people on his side lobbying for him considering, unlike all other POTUS's before him, he has the entire entity of the press 1000000% against him and all he is trying to do?

Everyone is going to regret these negative comments when Trump is the beacon of change that create peace in the Middle East

I don't think any American (Republican or Democrat, Liberal or Conservative) should have an issue with Trump's proposed ethics reform. Looks like it would be a good thing for America. May be a good way to get a win, especially since Republicans control both the House and Senate.

I completely agree. My contention is that Trump was lying his *** off when he said he'd do this. He had/has no intention of following through...

Well, I guess we'll see. At a minimum he has 3+ years to get it done. I wouldn't think it would be that tough of a sell to push through the pieces he wants made into laws, but who knows? It can't be more of a minefield than health care.

If he pulls that off, I will change my tune for sure. His son-in-law is in charge of it, so I'd imagine that it will get done quickly.

Yep, we'll see. However, even if Trump WAS honest about his intentions, this would be an INCREDIBLY tough sell. Both sides of the aisle, including congressmen, senators, and all their high level staff REGULARLY make bank by becoming lobbyist after they stop being government employees. Pigs don't like to give up their trough.

you're just a troll at this point, right?

No, he is just trying to be honest, there is obviously a mass deficiency on real issues like taxes. Americans can get deflected off of the real issues so easy it is amazing. Just like this thread, "ethics" in government are going to somehow get addressed.

i would hardly call the realization that our president is turning out to be even more of an incompetent moron than believed to be a "distraction."

How could it not be a distraction?
It certainly has the attention of you, MSNBC, CNN, Fox and every other major network worldwide blasting nonsense 24/7. For decades every POTUS has been nothing but a distraction while the real issues get worse. A perfect plan IMO.
