Same. It’s just so BS how they can just buy a title with no restrictions other than a tax that they are about the only team who can afford to say we don’t care what the bill is outside NYC.
True, but look at the last teams left - Indians, Rays, Brewers. 17, 19 and 26 in payroll.

Money doesn't always win in that sport. The Yankees haven't won it in 18 years.

I played baseball with Dave Roberts, one of the nicest guys you'll meet.

Went to bed and it was 2 to 1 Dodgers. Thanks for the good news OP.

Ill believe it when I see it. Their team is just such a cheat code usually. Brewers need to try to finish them off tonight. It won't take much for the cheat code confidence to return and make it a series.

Id love to see a Brewers vs Rays WS. Both teams have never won one before.

Hope they get swept.. however, if you want baseball to make changes, it would be better if Dodgers went 3 in a row or Yankees won it this year. Small market teams remaining isnt going to help the case for a salary cap.

Yeah, a good front office can mitigate that somewhat. The Dodgers are back to back champs for a reason though, the Yankees have won 20 ships. Money works when it’s spent well. They have so many chances at it where as your Brewers, Rays, etc.. have a 2-3 year window with their young players until they are inevitably poached by those same teams later on.

No way a roster like the Dodgers should get swept though. Their legit have 4 guys in their rotation who would be number 1 starters on most staffs. That doesn’t even factor in Ohtani being hurt as well or else that would be 5.

Yankees got swept. Dodgers next?? How sweet would that be??!!
Amazingly sweet, it’s a huge benefit when you have a pitcher like Miz who could pitch 3 games in the series if needed. He can pitch a guaranteed 2. That’s basically like a 90% chance to win those 2 games if he gets any run support.

Would love that. Hopefully Ohtani keeps struggling (but returns to health shortly after the season is over) Mr deferred compensation can turn a series quickly on his own.

Its not the size...its how you use it, or so I've heard. Thats why a good GM in sports might be just as important as the coach/manager.

Agreed, you know he can easily win a series for them. They have freaking Tyler Glasnow as like their 3rd or 4th in the rotation. That is just filthy as a staff. When Skubal could be considered the 2 sometimes in your staff, it’s unfair. Yamamoto/Skubal/Snell/Ohtani/Glasnow. That’s not even fair.

The point is that teams like the Dodgers are ALWAYS in the playoff and world series hunt, where teams like Cleveland only rarely are

Tampa and Milwaukee have never won the world series. And Cleveland hasn't won one since 1948. That's not a coincidence

Have a friend that's 82 and grew up in Brooklyn not far from Ebbets Field. Used to attend games there regularly. Yes, big Dodgers fan still.

Interesting note.

If the Brewers can finish off the Dodgers, the remaining three teams will represent 6 MLB that have either not won a WS at all or not won since 1948.

Brewers and Rays haven't won, Cleveland hasn't won since 48, longest drought. The other three are generally all West Coast expansions teams: Rockies, Padres, Mariners.

The Cleveland Guardians have an estimated active roster and total adjusted payroll of approximately $74.2 million to $74.5 million for the 2026 Major League Baseball season, ranking near the bottom (30th) in MLB.

bout time someone beat the Dodgers. My Braves at least got that far this year, so no shame. My baseball acumen and fandom have gone AWOL for years though.

My gut and eye has been on the Brewers. Great team to watch! I think they're gonna win it all this year. They are super solid all over.

I have been a life long Dodgers fan since early 60s. Not the same now days to much money involved
I was as a kid from mid-70's (77) to mid 90's (when they traded away Piazza and nearly everyone else), so I dropped them then out of frustration.
However, I had 2 additional teams starting around 80-81, that I've kept since then, although 1 I've followed less the past 10 years (Red Sox), the other has been my #1 for the past 15 years following since a batting order of Molitor/Yount/Cooper/..., yes the Brewers.
Let's GO Brewers!!!!

Now the model is shifting to trade away star players on the verge of a new contract for young prospects to build your team.

Seems like the right move. Instead of eating some 10 yesr $400m contract, and then bring stuck with a player on his back 9, offen injured.. get out from under them when you can.

Like if Im the Yankees, I would strongly consider moving on from Judge, as bad as it may hurt. You proved you can be a playoff team without him, he's always injured, and he doesnt come up big when the games matter most. Theres no way hes going to be the one who gets you a title.. its guys like Ben Rice, Lombard, Volpe, etc. Who have a lot of years left, not eating up a ton of salary, are generally available most of the year.
