Headed out Wednesday to Denver for a week. It’s going to be me and my brother. Anything you guys recommend doing while there? Anything or anywhere we need to stay away from? Also should we stay in Denver or find a town close to Denver? Thanks!

Stay in Denver. There are some good micro breweries to tour. I did Avery a while back. Try to catch a Rockies game. If they are off, they do tours. The tour is pretty cool. They take you through the club house, infield, and suites. You can tour Mile High as well.

If you are a South Park park, go to Casa Bonita. It's EXACTLY like it is in the show...fantastically awful. The food taste like chlorine and Black Bart's Cave smells like vomit.

Yes we plan to catch a Rockies games for sure! Can’t make up my mind if I want to see the cubs or Hunter Renfroe. Might do both though. Being a Cardinals fan I would love to see the Rockies beat the breaks off them.

Weather looks bad toward the end of the week and on Saturday. Should be good to go by Sunday though.

- Denver Biscuit Company
- Uncle or Bones (Ramen)
- Linger
- Lola (Coastal Mexican)
- La Loma (Mexican)
- Vine Street Pub (Brewery and good eats)
- Epic, TRVE (breweries)

Lodo, RiNo and the Highlands are some of the best areas of town for good eats and beer. Look into First Draft Tap Room where you can pour your own beer...

*MJ is also legal. weedmaps.com is your friend. Some shops are sketch, others are super high end.

Have Fun!

Also - Arapahoe Basin Ski resort is an hour and fifteen minutes away. It's super cheap right now and they are likely to get some good snow this week. Worth the trip to make a few runs, grab a bloody mary, and soak in the mountains.

2nd on Casa Bonita. Don't plan on eating much but if you like South Park you will laugh the entire time. It's so ****** that it's great

If you have a car, you need to drive up Mount Evans. Stop in Idaho Springs at Tommyknocker brewery on the way back

The food is worse than these guys claim, much worse. And it was expensive, for Mexican. There is so much good food around Denver, please don't waste any meal on this place.

Yes, perfect day. Then walk down the street to the local shop making ice cream and candy. Mount Evans is the highest paved road in the country. You can drive to within a few hundred feet of the peak.

Game 4 of the Avalanche and Preds will be Wednesday night. Playoff hockey is incredible to watch in person.

Not far from Coors field. There's some sports bars and restaurants down in that area that I'm sure will be full with the game going on.

Stay downtown.
LoDo and the 16th street mall is where you want to go.
RiNo is also pretty cool.
Bars around Coors field are great also.
Go to a Rockies game and Avs if you can get a tix.
Buy some edibles.
Mount Evens road isn't open yet, too much snow.
The skiing at ABasin and Winter Park will be great this weekend, up to 2 feet on the way. I'll be at the Basin.
Go over Loveland pass if you go, you can get a deal at Keystone, Breck or Dillon right now on a room if you want to stay in the mountains.
Top Golf is here too.
Snoop Dog is here for 4/20, it's a little crazy on that day.
Denver is a fun town, enjoy.

You’re not getting up Mt. Evans this time of year.

if you ski, that’s a no brainer. Go to A-Basin or WP, it’s still open I think.

Went to Casa Bonita as a kid. One of the people that went with us puked the entire way home...all over their car. They were driving back to Central City and there was no pull offs.

Go check out Boulder and hang out on Pearl Street (main strip through Boulder). Lots to do, eat and drink and it's affordable as well as expensive options. Lots of really cool artsy stuff to check out.

If you want to stay outside of Denver and fairly close to the mountains and hiking, I recommend getting an AirBNB near Lafayette, which is 15-20min Uber ride to Boulder.

DT Denver is cool, but hopefully you're going to do some outdoor and local stuff while you're in Colorado and not just hanging around the city life the whole time.

Colorado is probably my favorite state.

Have a good time!

Denver Metro is a great except for the cost of housing. Employment very easy to find, you should have multiple job offers.
Where you live depends on your preference and how far you want to commute.

If you are single or married with no children anytime soon live in the city.
Washington Park, Highlands, Park Hill, or Capital Hill would be my picks.

https://www.thedenverchannel.com/ne...that-are-great-for-young-single-professionals

If you are married with kids I would go West or Northwest.
You do not want to have to ever get on I-25 it is horrible for traffic..
We live in Genesee and it's great for my family, great schools in Jeffco, close to mountains(45 min from skiing) and 25 min from downtown.
Golden or Lakewood are also good options because you can drive 6th Ave downtown instead of I-70.
Boulder is also great if you can land a job up that way.
I would stay way from southern Denver, traffic is horrible on I-25 and C470 and you are 1.5 - 2 hours from the mountains.

Did I mention we have great beer here.. New Terrain is my current favorite brewery.

Never been to Denver, but I was in CO Springs for a week last year, which I think is only an hour drive.

Not sure of your schedule, but it might be worth spending one night in CO Springs. You could visit Pike's Peak and the Garden of the Gods on the first day, spend the night, and then hit the AF Academy tour on the way back to Denver the next day.

That’s what we plan to do stay in a few different places the week we are there. Oh yes we are going for the outdoors and everything it has to offer. I know we won’t be able to do everything in a week but plan to knock out a bunch of the recommendations you’ll have given me. Not much of a city person my self but want to stay in Denver a day or two.

Thanks again for the information!

There's a lot of outdoorsy stuff to do near and around Boulder. This place is pretty cool and has hiking trails around it: https://scied.ucar.edu/visit

The Denver area is very large. I would recommend renting a car to save a few bucks on Ubers.

I have some buddies and family out there.

Breweries: Avery, Great Divide, Oskar Blues (if you want to travel out of the city)

Garden of the Gods is pretty awesome but it's a decent drive.

Enjoyed the food and beverage at both Wynkoop Brewing in LoDo and Avery Brewing in Boulder last fall.

Going back at the end of the month, so I appreciate the timely thread.

Lol, I remember the first time I flew in there - it was Feb 2007. My flight had been delayed a couple of times due to weather, and I guess somehow we finally managed to be one of the few planes to get there - landed around 1am. I hadn't thought much about transportation, figured I'd just get a taxi to the hotel. Had no idea it would be over 30 minutes away and cost $50 (before tip). Now I think taxis are closer to $75 but Uber is about half that.

Two years ago I shared an Uber with a guy that turned out to be a billionaire... we split a $385 fare from downtown to the airport. It was a 1 hour ride with a high surge charge due to record snowfall the day before.

I spent a few days in Denver last July. I stayed downtown and used Uber when I wanted to go somewhere. The one suggestion I would make is a trip to Elways Steakhouse. Very pricey but a fantastic steak and good drinks. Plus, it's a hangout for the athletes in Denver.
