Davey Johnson, who managed the New York Mets to the 1986 World Series title and racked up franchise-record 595 wins over six-plus seasons, has died. He was 82.

Death was kind of lost in the shuffle of game day. Besides being the winningest manager in Mets history there are two things I remember about him as a player.
1. He made the last out of the 1969 WS with a flyball to Cleon Jones.
2. Also part of a team that had three players hit 40 home runs in a season, the 1973 Atlanta Braves. Johnson, Hank Aaron and Darrell Evans.
