Anything I've had from Wiseacre and Southern Prohibition have been very, very solid, in terms of local-ish breweries you can probably get beer from.

If you want a wider variety or to get deeper down the rabbit hole of beer, go to some beer feats and try a lot of samples. Also, if you travel, make a point of trying things you can't get at home. Or, save yourself money and weight (and enjoyment) and stop drinking beer.

Was in Memphis for the Gin Show last week and had 3 Wiseacre Ananda IPA's....Wasn't very impressed.

I was in Atlanta before Christmas and had Opheus' Double IPA Transmigration of Souls. If you drink IPA's or DIPA's, this is one to try. 10% ABV, no alcohol burn on the backend and at $10/six-pack, one of the better value buys on the market.

My recent IPA rotation has been Bell's Two Hearted Ale and Founder's Centennial.

I'm not a purist. My typical purchase is a 12'er of Yuengling and 6-pack of some craft beer. But I think that Bell's Two Hearted Ale is the best IPA I've ever had.

The two hearted is amazing. Dogfish 90 minute is too, and so is the Stone Enjoy By. Okay, too early to drink yet?

Dogfish Head 90 Minute is the best one made. If you live in an area it's available, it's the one to get. I don't think you can get it in MS.

I need to try the Untapped app. Never downloaded an app to my phone but will consider this one. Dogfish 90, Two Hearted and Stone are very good IPA's. Green Flash's West Coast IPA is one of my favorites as is Ballast Point Sculpin and Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin.

There's nothing like the fist sip of quality IPA when you've not had one in 2 or 3 weeks...

I had Lagunitas Sucks for the first time this weekend... I've had the brown shugga before so the Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga Substitute intrigued me... i was not disappointed at all
i'm a big fan of Brooklyn Brewery i'd recommend any of their beers specifically check out Brooklyn Blast might have to talk to your local beer guy to see if he can get it worth a special order if you can.
Stone IPA is always a solid go to.

FYI, for those living in Virginia .. Stone Brewing just opened there Brewery and East Coast Distribution Center in Richmond. Well the retail store and tasting room portion of Stone Brewing Co. opened in Feb. Think they start brewing in the 220,000-square-foot facility starting in April.

Fantastic beer, outstanding facility. Richmond's exploding craft beer scene isn't news to locals, but now the folks at The Wall Street Journal have taken notice.

Mississippi beer drinkers need to get the message to their representatives. Not serving cold beer at breweries is a real shame!

Not a thing is wrong with Natural Light in the same way

What the 17s wrong with Natural Light?
That nothing is wrong with an Applebees steak or buying your dress shirts at WalMart. Not a thing wrong with it if that's what you like and want.

Southern Prohibition

Look for this one from Southern Prohibition and grab if you can find it (look for the red wax.) It's their Mississippi Fire Ant aged in Willett's barrels. It usually goes fast and it is excellent. Also if you're in Hattiesburg I highly recommend the tap room tour on Thu/Fri/Sat.

Mississippi breweries can serve cold beer at a brewery now. If you go on a tour, you can consume 6, 6 ounce samples. Effective July 1, breweries in Mississippi will be able to sell their beer at the brewery. Lots of time and effort went in to making both of these things possible.

We have a long way to go with respect to craft beer culture in Mississippi; but, we have some Mississippi breweries putting out some amazing products right now.

I enjoy ambushing my neighbors with Stone Brewery beer. If they don't drive, I will give them Stone Wheaten Farkin wOOtstout. The stout is smooth but lethal. It is minimum 13 percent and aged in a whisky barrel for about a year. I love watching the confusion of my guest feeling nearly destroyed on the third swallow. It is hard to decide whether the glass is a very strong beer or a weak whisky.

I just had something similar, can't recall the name but a stout aged in a barrel that had a similar profile. Full sail bourbon barrel aged. They are out of Oregon.

I'm big on PA's

and MS is a little behind on the times, but some of my favorite PA's that are available in Jackson are SOPRO's Crowd Control, Green Flash's West Coast IPA, Lagunitas IPA, and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Those are solid choices

Try Dale's Pale Ale or Blue Dream American IPA from Oskar Blues, which should be available in Jackson area. Also the reformulation of SoPro's Devil's Harvest is about to hit the shelves. I've not had it, but hear that it is great. ETA- also look for Ananda IPA from Wisacre out of Memphis.

Agreed. Tropical Torpedo is pretty good. I had that for the first time at Duling Hall last week while at the City and Colour show.

I also brought some craft beer down from Indiana a couple days ago. Csar is a good Imperial Russian Stout made by Tin Man out of Evansville. Oh So Pretty is a really nice Saison from 18th Street in Hammond. Harlot is a Honey Blonde Ale from Carson's in Evansville. I brought a couple more beers but haven't tried them yet.

Edit to add: I would have loved to brought some 3 Floyds down but they don't can (or at least I didn't see any canned products - their Alpha King and Yum Yum are very good though) and I wanted to limit breakage while transporting/going to Saturday's parade.
