OT: Craft Beer

I'm usually drink Budweiser or Mexican beer, except Corona. Lately I have been experimenting with some craft beers but nothing too hoopy. So far this what I have tried recently

Suzy B. (SPB)
Devils Harvest (SPB)
Sweet Water IPA
Dos Perros (Yazzo)

i liked them all but the Dos Perros seemed flat to me and the Devils Harvest seemed a little fruity. Do y'all have any other suggestions that aren't too hoppy?

Tiny Bomb, and 8 Bit are 2 of my favorites.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a good stepping stone towards IPA beers. It's really hoppy for a pale ale.

Concerning craft beer, if you like it, google "Brew Ridge Trail" and reserve a night or two at The Mark Addy Inn and enjoy. The wife and I just returned and had a blast.

Concerning the targeting call, I'm not so much interested in a "Bama conspiracy" as a kid got hurt, he could have potentially gotten hurt badly, and, due to the incompetence of the SEC replay officials, the play wasn't even reviewed to determine if there was a foul.

as will be any beer with IPAin the name will be. If you liked the sweet water IPA try the 420 Pale Ale.
A good Mississippi non hoppy beer is Lucky Town Pub Ale (brewed by MSU guys to boot). They also do Ballistic Blond.

Yalobusha River Ale is pretty good. NOLA Brown is great.

I could go go on all day, but I'll stop there.

Let me clarify, by recently I mean this what I have been drinking over the last 3 hours. Favorites are Suzy B and Sweet Water

They are very different from each other. The Sweet Water is more hoppy than the other but not as hoppy as some other IPAs I have had.

Have you tried Hopitoulas? That and Torpedo are 2 of my favorite IPA's.

I've become more of a strong ale fan, with an occasional barleywine, and stout.

Weekend warrior is great and not too hoppy but not sure if it's outside Texas
Agreed in the Sierra Nevada posts - both regular and torpedo
I went hoppy IPA a few years ago and don't drink much else

You know who's got Mississippi's best selection of craft beer? The Smokehouse, just across the tracks in West Point.

Try out some wheat beers/hefewiezen's. Very light flavor usually, very much a nice transitional beer from Bud/Miller/Coors to craft beers.

I'd also recommend most any Oktoberfest - I've never really had a bad one, Sam Adams is widely available & very good.

I like Kona Big Wave as an easy-drinking, lighter craft beer.

You could also try some citrus flavored IPA's; the citrus really balances out the bitterness well, and some aren't too fruity. I've recently tried Tallgrass's Flying Hawaiian Double IPA. It's pineapple flavored, but I don't taste any pineapple, and it's not too hoppy to me.

Disclaimer: I mostly drink IPA's, so I'm less affected by the hoppiness.

Newcastle Brown Ale and Yuengling are pretty good transition beers. You might also try Andygator from Abita.

Try Fatire by new belgium. I drink mostly ipa's though. Try em all. Go from there. Take advantage of the mix 6 you can get any craft beer store or Kroger. I'm currently drinking the hell out of sopro's sinister minister. It's a black IPA. So damn good.

More of just an import but with what you have said you like you might try Moretti's La Rossa. It's an Italian beer but pretty good. I know you can get it at Brewski's.

I like stouts, two of the better to me are the Jeff Stout from Lazy Magnolia and if you see any Bell Double Cream Stout grab it. Bell is out of Michigan and they do stouts full justice.

Have you tried the "revamped" Devils Harvest? They re-styled it last year. Now it's cloudy and citrusy. Not bad.

Stay away from IPAs if you don’t like hoppy. I am the same way.
Some of beers I enjoy range from hefe’s to porters. Also, dig the Saisons.
Everyone has different availabilities, but here in Kentucky we have quite a few to chose from:
Favorite porter: Sinebrychoff Porter.
Favorite stout: De Struise Black Albert
Favorite Belgian Dark: Ommegang Soothsayer
Favorite Strong Golden Ale: Brouwerij De Dolle Boskeun

The thread has veered off the original non-hoppy suggestions, so I thought I'd pitch one that hasn't gotten a mention here. Lazy Magnolia's Timber Beast is a favorite of mine. It's an imperial rye pale ale. Love that stuff.
