OT: Covid + vaccine shot

Has anybody who had Covid gotten a vaccine shot? If so, which vaccine did you get and how did you feel?

I got my first dose of Moderna yesterday after having Covid about three months ago. Felt fine initially but about 10 hours after the shot it knocked me on my ***. Fever, chills, dripping sweat. Feel worse than I did when I had Covid.

Curious to hear about any similar experience from you all.

This is the question I’m wrestling with now, too. Read a study earlier this week (article was published in the NYT, so can’t dismiss the underlying study as some right-wing, anti-vaccine, conspiracy propaganda), indicating the belief now is the antibodies produced from COVID could last years, or possibly decades. And that’s even for those having very mild symptoms. If so, do you really need the vaccine if you’ve had COVID? If the antibodies protect you for “years, or possibly decades”, what benefit will you really get from the vaccine? I’ve assumed that because of some international travel I do that I might, at some point, be required to be vaccinated in order to gain entry to certain countries, but if I’ve had the virus . . . maybe not?

I read where you should test for antibodies first. If you still have antibodies, then wait. A lot of trouble, but if you are worried about it...then try this. I had it in November, and will wait til June/July ish...

They say having Covid gives you about 80% immunity for about 6-8 months.

I had covid about 6 months ago and got the moderna shot last week. Covid was much worse for me. Upset stomach and a sore arm for a couple days with the shot.

The vaccine produces a more diverse and likely more durable set of antibodies compared to natural infection. That is to say, the vaccine provides better immunity and protection against covid than natural infection.

Congrats on your shot, and I hope you feel better soon. The immune response from the vaccine can be pretty rough in some folks!

I had it. I got the 1st pfizer vaxcination. Zero side effects and I still had antibodies. I got it for three reasons. 1. If I get exposed I don't have to quarantine and my job needs me. 2. The vaccine will keep you out of the hospital if some how you do get it again. 3. Covid almost killed me.

Are those good enough reasons?

Where did this rumor come from? If there’s scientific studies and data that proves this, I’ll read it. But everything I’ve read, from the CDC, etc.... says there’s no studies or data that shows any fertility issues.

I suppose it’s early though.

The late Kary Mullis was a brilliant biochemist that won a Nobel prize. But he was also prone to unfounded, pseudoscientific theories that were outside his field of study and perhaps influenced by the massive amounts of LSD he manufactured and took while at Berkeley and after.

Yeah. They are doing the study right now but the only problem is, the people that took the vaccine won't take their mask off during sex so they think that might be part of the problem.

I can appreciate that you give people the benefit of the doubt. Shows you see the good in people. But he isn't one you should give that benefit to. He has routinely mocked, dismissed, and hijacked any respectable covid conversation.

He firmly believes that Covid is a joke and all the deaths are as well. Not a good dude.

Had COVID in early Jan.
Got the 1st Pfizer shot 2 weeks ago.
Sore arm for a day, that was all.

Had COVID during Thanksgiving week. Received first Pfizer shot on March 16th. Felt ok for the first 24 hours. Next day and a half was a different story. It felt like I had COVID all over again (low fever, chills, lethargy, ,etc...) Was fine the following day.

Had the 1st Moderna vaccinantion, no issues at all...2nd coming next week.

It’s pretty well known that those who have had Covid may have the second dose response(worse) after the first dose. You are already revved up, simulating the first shot. Not to worry. (easy for me to say)

Had covid and got first Moderna last week. Arm was pretty sore, headache and nausea for about 36 hours then felt fine.

This is the exact same thing that happened to me. Had COVID in December, got my first Moderna shot a couple of weeks ago. Initially, just arm soreness. But 12 hours after getting it, 100 degree fever, muscle aches, fatigue, major chills. It lasted 24 hours and was gone and I felt great the next day, but the initial effects were pretty terrible.

I had Covid in early August with mild symptoms that lasted for less than three days; symptoms started Thursday and were gone Saturday morning. I decided to check for loss of taste by having a few pours of Basil Hayden’s on Friday night, unfortunately I hadn’t lost taste. I woke up Saturday and symptoms were gone. I can’t definitively say that bourbon cures Covid, but there’s one experiment that says it does.

Anywho, to your question. I had my first does of Pfizer two weeks ago (3/18) and Friday sucked. I got the shot in my non-dominant arm and it felt like a deep bruise. Had muscle aches and fatigue all day. Woke up Saturday and didn’t feel great, but I wasn’t missing my tee time. Felt a lot better after 30 minutes or so on the range and never felt bad again.

They inject you with covid and call it a vaccine. They actually don't have a vaccine for this. They just give it to you because they know it won't kill you. Basically the same effect as getting covid. Why is that? Because it is covid.
