I just found out this morning that my local Kroger now carries Country Pleasin'. I've seen multiple people on here post about how good it is so I'm looking forward to trying it. Just curious, how does it compare to Conecuh? Better, worse, same?

At the risk of someone asking me to meet them a South Farm, I'll say better. CP is my favorite.

Haha…Do you prefer Ford or Chevy? They’re not the same. Grab a pack and let your tastebuds decide. There was a multiple page thread not long ago debating which was better regarding CP and Conecuh.

Country Pleasin is legit. Can't weigh in on the CP Conecuh wars, but if it's even a discussion, you can't lose.

Country Pleasin and Connecuh are very similar to me. I honestly can’t tell a lot of difference. I have recently discovered Lil Butcher Shop sausage out of Hattiesburg and it’s my current go to. The Blueberry smoked sausage is delicious, I was skeptical at first but it’s fantastic. The pineapple is great as well. I do like the smaller diameter of Connecuh for dishes like jambalaya or gumbo but it’s more about the size than the taste.

Thanks for reminding me, I had forgotten about that thread. I just happened to see it now being carried at my Kroger and was surprised since I live in GA. I didn't know they were distributing over here. Looks like the three varieties available are Andouille, regular, and jalapeno cheese.

Not a sausage connissiuer (sp?) but I can interchange CP, Conecuh and Polk's and roll on.

The CP Juniors are same size as Conecuh slim ones are if your stores carry it. Henry Cooper (owner of CP) is a big MSU supporter so I like to support him. I go to their store on 49 when I'm close by and stock up on all the other items they do like stuffed mushrooms, stuffed pork chops, turkeys, etc. That said, if my grocery store has them both I buy Conecuh but have no problem if they just have CP.

Yeah they are both good to me but I tend to buy Country Pleasin because they sponsor MSU. I will say that for crawfish, gumbo, etc where I use Cajun sausage I really like the Polks Cajun.

Exactly, buy local. Buying Conecuh is likely going to Alabama/Auburn coffers. But, again, they are both still fantastic. So I generally go about 80% Country Pleasin', 20% Conecuh.

One thing about either one......they have eliminated the need for me to take deer somewhere and make sausage of it. Just not worth the money. Just buy the good stuff.

Both are good. CP just has more variety. The jalapeno cheese is my favorite. If you want the best sausage you can get though, get your store to carry Lil' Butcher Shoppe out of Hattiesburg. They are the goat.

This is the correct answer.

Country Pleasin' by 10 miles, not even close. Throw that Alabama Conecuh shite in the trash, then burn it, then bury the ashes, then go atone for your sins. Either that or meet me at the Sonics in Ackerman at midnight.

Never understood the love for Country Pleasin'. It's pretty average stuff.
For several years after they started and were still relatively small their sausage was really special. When they got big and had to change production methods it was still good but not head and shoulders better like it used to be.

Exactly. If it's close, I'm buying from the company that supports MSU every time.

I tried Conecuh, tastes good, but far too greasy! I’ll stick with CP, very good and not as greasy.

BOTH have their place. Redbeans and rice and other cajun dishes get conecuh, but a shrimp/crawfish boil, or a biscuit gets Country pleasin

Conecuh’s basic smoked sausage is great to go into dishes like gumbo and jambalaya or grilled with a bunch of fresh vegetables. It’s also the right choice for a sausage dog. But cutting it up on a plate to be served is not a good option. Lil Butcher Shoppe is the best brand for having sausage served as a stand alone item on the plate. Blueberry, Sweet Fire, Pineapple, Apple, 3 cheese, Jalapeño Cheese, etc. You just can’t go wrong.

You really should just change your name to ConstantContrarian.

It truly is your MO.

Then again, Cooterpoot is pretty excellent.
I rarely buy sausage from a store. The large majority of it is similar. I either make my own sausage or have it made at a processor. There's no comparison. The companies all just copy one another if one changes something.

If you're arguing about who makes the best sausage and both contenders only offer 100% pork sausage, you are arguing over the greatest hitter in AAA history. Get you a little beef in your sausage and you'll never look back (TWSS.)*
