Man tell me about. Several days didn't get above 0. Got frost bite on both feet and had deep cracks in my heels.Omaha in December of 83. Coldest Christmas ever. This weather also played a part in the 84 Orange Bowl preparation when the Cook Pavillion didn’t exist.

same as Sooner or Later said above, this winter in HS, had 6am basketball practice, I walked about 9 blocks from home to school every morning for practice, I still have my retired old scarf that got me through it - we did go 17-2 that season though!

Silage was a wonderful thing.....kept feet warm for awhile. That and chopper mittsI lived that one, boy did it suck feeding and watering cattle
Chopping ice out of tanks and pitching hay, kept ya warm but sure needed mittens plus a full beard was nice. Starting vehicles were challenging back in the good ole days with automatic chokes. You young guys missed out on that garbage, fuel injection put a end to that. Most tractor used straight number 1 so they wouldn't gell upSilage was a wonderful thing.....kept feet warm for awhile. That's the funny thing. Now 80-20 plus winter treatment seems to do it. Im guessing fuel is cleaner and has less water in it than 35 years agoChopping ice out of tanks and pitching hay, kept ya warm but sure needed mittens plus a full beard was nice. Have a mid size new holland it doesn't like cold weather unless it at least 50/50 blend. Then it runs great. The interesting thing it starts great but can't throttle up with 80/20 with power service or howesThat's the funny thing. Now 80-20 plus winter treatment seems to do it. In 1978, in a south Chicago suburb,it was 80 below wind chill and I had to walk to school that day. The wind was blowing hard and I had to stop behind every telephone pole just to warm my face up.-20 forecast here next week. Wind chills unknown.

Way before my time, just remember dad telling stories about it.What was your experience with this storm?
In 1998 hiked up the tallest peak on the east coast. Mount Washington. It was 55 degrees at the base. My buddy and I got halfway up, just above the alpine tree line when, as happens on Mount Washington, a freak storm came up suddenly. We were told later the temp dropped to -35 with a windchill of -80. We were trapped in a ravine for about 8 hours. We eventually hooked up with two other hikers who were hunkered down not far from us. They had a satellite phone and we got Mount Washington search and rescue locate us. Unfortunately, my hiking partner ended up losing both of his feet to severe frostbite. I almost did too but I got lucky. My boots were a bit more thermal than his.
True story. No ********. That was freakishly cold. Man.
I do remember a lot of snow in the late 1960s. We didn't have the equipment we do today, so much snow dad couldn't move it with the tractor anymore so he just drove with it to like the chicken coop and farrowing house then you just walked in the tracks, the county came and cleaned the driveway to the milk barn so the milk truck could get inWhat was your experience with this storm?
