What a story. She had to qualify for the French open. She's broke and only booked a Hotel room for a few nights. She's been scrambling to renew her Hotel room which she can't afford ever since. Her government had to step in and front her money so she could keep playing. She's been eating Pizza every night. She's already in for a 1.8 Million payday but won't get it until the tournament is over. Now she's playing for the championship on TNT against a 19 year old that would be the youngest champion (19) in 40 years.

Her world ranking jumps high enough to get her automatic entry into main draws of tournaments. I think I heard she will get guaranteed $100k for each of the rest of the majors this year regardless if she wins. So this tournament sets her up for at least several years. And I’m sure she will get more endorsements.

Seeing stories like this in this day and age makes me have some modicum of hope for the future of all sports. It's important to to stay true to your dreams, and hopefully, a successful life, for many young people that use their skills to the best they can.

I did that living my life, and now I'm retired but disabled, yet living soundly and well, having done just that. My body may get older, but my spirit is eternally unquenchable!
